I can't believe I'm doing two of these at the same time. I didn't think I'd ever be able to work that.

Anyway, I'm giving away another Steam game. Yes, it's Oblivion, a game everyone played in 2006. There may be a couple of you who missed it, or couldn't run it on your PC at the time and passed it over. Well, here's a chance to get it.

This is going to go exactly like the other giveaway I am doing right now for "Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit." That's here, btw: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.390146-Hell-Yeah-Giving-away-a-Dead-Rabbit-on-Steam-Ends-12pm-10-5

Just comment saying you want in, and at midnight mountain time, friday night, I'll use random.org to pick someone to give this to.

If you had a friend who just didn't bother with it and you think they should, pass this info along.

I'd sure like it, if it's random choice then sign me up.
I like this kind of thing, when I get gift codes I'll be sure to make a post like this.

Yeah, I like doing it. I give most of the codes I get away to people, and my friends are all too busy or grown up to game anymore, so I figured this place would work when trying to find them a home.

I could go for it, just picked up morrowind and would love to play Oblivion on PC.
Cool, that's what I was hoping for. Someone who hasn't already beat it over and over.

I would certainly like a chance at this.
Back in the day my pc wouldn't run it, so I never got to buy it... I loved morrowind and Skyrim, though.

I would absolutely love it. I am also fairly certain my laptop would be able to run it.

I honestly didn't care for either of those. Part of this reason isn't that they are bad games or anything, it's just that I grew up with Arena and Daggerfall. As buggy as they were, the worlds and things were probably literally hundreds of times larger than Skyrim and such. I also really miss the customization they used to offer. It's pure nostalgia I'm sure. Even though Arena and Daggerfall are both freeware now, I doubt I'd want to sit through them again. You might as well bind quicksave to your move forward button in Daggerfall, given how often it crashes.

Oh and I can't forget Redgaurd. A game I am sure I was the only one who bought.

I bought Oblivion last year on Steam (so I don't want it) but we'd never played an Elder Scrolls before this so it got complicated and I gave up. Loved Skyrim, though. Will have to give it a shot again down the line when I'm through the neverending backlog.

Sure I'd love to have it on PC. I got it on PS3 last year and I found it fun but from what I've seen there's a huge modding community for Oblivion out there and I thought I'd really like to restart the game with some amazing mods since vanilla had been getting stale.

Unfortunately I never got to play the older ones... I think I might have been too young to even understand what was going on.
I didn't know they went freeware, though, so I might give them a try

They sure didn't age graphically well at all. I thought the story in Daggerfall was great, and the amount of temples and guilds to join is completely mind blowing. If you do end up playing it, I can tell you a few things that will make your time a lot easier.

Create a race that has Immune to paralyze, or getting out of the first dungeon or fighting any spiders can be a ***** and a half. Take the ebony dagger in the beginning background questions, so you can actually hit things like ghosts. Creating a race that can absorb magica at 100% means you can create the most insane fireball type spell and cast it on anything that's in your face. You'll absorb the cost back from the explosion. It's so old, lots of little things like that can break the game. You can loiter in a store until after hours and just take the things off the shelf and sell them to the guy standing right there. Or, you can just take a loan out at a bank from a providence you won't revisit.

I don't know if I could really recommend trying it today, but it was up on Daggerfall's page on Bethesda's site last I checked.

Oh, and the Mark and Recall spells are a freaking must. Cast mark before you go into any dungeon and Recall to get out, because you can get lost extremely easy, and some are HUGE.

I'll go for this! I've got Morrowind and Skyrim on PC, and this would be great to complete my collection. Also, I've been wanting to play it since Skyrim bombed in my opinion...

I thought I was the only one who was let down by that game. All my friends wouldn't shut up about it, but I thought it was just kind of bland given the series past. I felt like a lot of the series has been watered down. No more create your own class, race, spell and all that junk, and no more Major/Minor skills.

Nope. You aren't the only one. I played it for a while, trying to like it, but after a while I just gave up, realizing that I was doing roughly the same thing for 30 hours.
Fast forward a couple months, I felt like giving it another chance. I played it for a couple hours, then realized that I was bored out of my mind.
Overall, very disappointed in that game. Especially for all the hype it had going for it.

I know, right? I went to PAX with a friend and stood in line forever so she could see it before it launched. When I finally played it I was very let down. The one thing I did like was the two handed system. The rest was just the same thing again, in my opinion. I totally agree with you that it felt like I was doing the same thing over and over.
