Fellow Escapists, it's been a while since I posted something on this forum. For the past three years I've been studying Game Design and Development at the Utrecht School for Arts. These past years have been a blast. I joined this site back in high school with a passion for games, and took that passion with me when I decided I wanted to become a game designer.

I'm currently doing an internship at a small indie company called Abbey Games. We've releasing our first game today, Reus and Indie God Game.

some screenshots of the game for those interested:

Reus is a 2D God Game in which you control these Giants who can shape your planet. Eventually humans start to settle, and it's your goal to provide for them so they can develop. The game's all about achieving balance by creating a perfect ecosystem for the humans to live in. Give the humans too much, and they'll become greedy and wage war with one another if you don't meet their demands.

The realization that, five years ago, I was just a teenager reading articles on this site, hoping that one day I'd be making those very games is a strange thought.

But life in the Game Industry hasn't been easy. During my studies I learned just as much about myself as I did about games and their development.
Finding the right internship was all about getting to know the right people. I used to be quite a shy person. But here at my internship I'm actually quite known for my social and pro-active behavior. And to think that a few weeks ago I shared tables with no one other than Chris Avellone..is something I have yet to fully comprehend...

So anyways, are there any Game Designers/Artists/Developers here on these forums, and if so, what's your story? :)
