if you can find a copy of in silent bomber is an awesome game in my opinion. its short and the voice acting sucks, but that aside the game is quite good. that and the plethora of mega man games for the ps1 (especially legends). silent hill, medievil 1 and 2 and r type delta are my recommendations that havent already been listed.

Ok, it's a JRPG BUT, it isn't turn based and doesn't have guys who look like 12 year old girls. Its more like Zelda, but better, with hard puzzles and cool 2d graphics, seriously, everyone should get this somehow, Alundra.

Metal Gear Solid - Simply, the most innovative game on the PS1

Resident Evil 2 - Wanna know what true survival horror was? It was being pitted against hordes of moaning zombies with bullets enough for only one magazine.

Gran Turismo 2 - Will definitely make you love cars and racing games. I SO MISS SIMULATION MODE DISC 2.

Megaman x4 - Before we had spectacle games like DMC, this game will put your abilities at power platforming to the test.

Twisted Metal.
Crash Bandicoot. (Any game)
Klonoa. This game was so awesome. First game i remember beating. Even the beach volleyball installment was cool.
Gran Turismo, I think I played number 3. It was one of the only racing games I enjoyed.
Tekken. Obviously the highest number you can find.

Maybe Tony Hawks. I remember enjoying Pro Skater 2 a lot.
