Recently, I've been searching for some old classic games to buy, as at the moment I; want something new to play, have little disposable income and want to try different genres that I've not previously explored. So I've been scouring the internet, reading reviews and checking prices, to find the best games for the lowest cost, which will generally be old games that have had a lot of time to depreciate in value. Case in point; a couple of months ago I managed to get Resident Evil 4 for about £7 in the UK (roughly $11) and it was amazing!
However there are some games that I, in general, just want to play, but can't due to either it's rarity or ridiculously high price. For example, I really really really want Shadow Of The Colossus, Ico and Final Fantasy VII. Games of the past that I missed out on and really want to enjoy (especially SOTC), but cost way more than I'm willing to pay for games that came out years ago - or for game at all! For example, getting SOTC new on Amazon.co.uk, would cost at least £50 ($77) or I could get it used at £30 ($46). This is similar for the other two, Ico is £64 ($98) new and FFVII is £50 ($77). I really want these games, but either I don't have enough money, or I'm just not willing to pay that kind of money on a game.
My question to the Escapist is this; Have you ever encountered similar instances when you want to get an old game really badly, but it's never quite within your reach (or in this case, price range)?
