I personally like the current Xbox 360 dashboard and I think the new one will probably be bug ridden and then there?s the whole avatars thing which will be awful as the last thing I need is mii for my 360

We've gone over this a couple times and I'm not really seeing any of truly valid complaints. Change isn't necessarily bad.

What's with these sorts of speculations before there's any proof that it is like that? The new dashboard is a month away, so you'll get to see it for yourself.

That and the fact that you can do everything from the new guide menu that you could do on the old dashboard, so you don't even have to really look at the new dashboard that much if you don't want to. And the new guide interface has blades, like the old dashboard.

Can't say i am excited about the Avatars (Create once, never really give more than a passing look afterwards) or the new look (not bad...but kind of wasting screen space...i really like the simplistic ways of the XMB Interfaces by Sony), BUT i'm extremly excited about anything else.

Having a full dashboard in game? Nice.
Party Mode with voice chat and everything? Awesome!
Installing Games? Not THAT useful, but worth a try.
Moderated Community Gameshows? Sounds pretty cool to me (Although i'd like to have some kind of You don't know Jack Gameshow...please, Microsoft and Jellyvision?)

So yeah, i'm looking forward to the new "experience"...just not for the obvious reason

Stop with the avatar hate jesus! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE THEM!!!! Looking for things that are not brand new on the marketplace is a pain in the ass - they intend to mend this with the new dashboard. You can now Private Chat with a party and even hop into games with a whole party. What the hell is so bad about that? Also why the hell are you spending so much time on the dashboard? Most people dont spend more then what 5 min of their day on there. Just calm down, its free, its to help us out, the xbox will still play your games and ull make it i promise.

1 and 3 complaints are null since its optional while the third is highly unlikely since the've been doing updates and even closed it down for a day preparing.

It's kinda like the new Facebook really - there's nothing particularly bad about it, but people are still resistant to change.

The avatars don't appeal to me, outside of perhaps an amusing few minutes in creating them, but they're certainly not going to ruin anything. The thing I'm really looking forward to is the ability to install games - my 360's hard drive runs very loud and hot for some reason (whereas my housemate's and my brother's don't) so anything that cuts down on that is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

...and, having read back now, I wish I'd done so before writing that because someone already said the thing about Facebook. Oh well, I typed it so I might as well leave it.

"They changed it, now it sucks."

Like everyone says, it's optional, and you don't know how buggy it will be.

All right I stand corrected maybe the new dashboard wont be that bad especially if it is optional I just don?t see what is wrong with current one and why cant they just do all the backgrounds changes and leave it as is and to clarify the whole thing about it being bug ridden with all the interconnectivity bugs are inevitable and lets not forget that this is Microsoft after all and I hope the avatar is optional

I'm not a fan of it. I heard you can use the old dashboard, so I dont care. But I do think it screams, "Rip off Nintendo and Sony." But I also hear that Sony is taking Xbox concepts, so I guess this is an industry problem rather then just Microsoft. Originality is declining.

You Don't Know jack would be awesome with the Scene It remotes.
I second that, what happened to Microsoft's announcement saying there would be many more games using the Scene It remotes, and what do we have? Scene It, and the second version of Scene It about to come out. You Don't Know Jack needs to make a comeback, that would be a great third party title for use with these hardly used remotes.

There is plenty wrong with the current one. Maybe not to people who spend a lot of time with the 360, but for those of us who just play our roommate's every once in a while, finding anything takes ages!

Where there are bugs, there are fixes. Microsoft has a lot at stake in the 360 now, and they won't let it languish.

They have already said that avatars will be optional numerous times in interviews and press releases, and it's been brought up everytime someone makes a whiney "Avatars are for kids, but I'm alll gwoaned up!" thread.

Here's a short tour of the NXE, it shows some avatar customisation, themes and some other stuff.

I personally can't wait, the party functionality will be vastly improved and I really like the look.

I'm excited and apprehensive. I'm worried about some horrible bug or flaw, but if it works I think it'll be a nice improvement(Not that I'm saying the current dashboard is flawed. It just adds more features.). Also, just think, if they can change that just imagine what else they can do.
