I was clicking around the internet today and I found this video summarizing what we know about Destiny so far.

I know that I tend to be in the minority on this website when it comes to liking Bungie, but I still think that this is worth talking about. Personally I'm really excited for Destiny, I really like Bungie as a developer, I really like the games that they've made, and it seems like this game has a lot of interesting ideas in it. The concept of multiple modes, a wide variety of weapons, areas and enemies, heavy customization, a couple of races and classes to choose from, a subscription free MMO, and interesting world, all in all it just looks like a really interesting game.

Though I'm not blind, and it was mentioned in the video that there was a rumor of microtransactions. Bungie, if by any chance someone from your studio is reading this, PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT! It's still just a rumor at the moment and I pray to GOD that it is a rumor that turns out to be false. Not to mention I noticed one or two of the female character models had a little bit of skin showing. Not terribly annoying considering that compared to most striperific outfits it's kind of tame, but it's still a little annoying.

Like I said, Halo isn't well liked on this website and the fact that this isn't getting a PC port at the moment probably isn't earning destiny many friends either. Still, I think that this game is worth talking about.

So, like it or not, what's your opinion?

EDIT: Watching the video through a second time, it said that there was a possibility of a PC port in 2015. There's something to think about.

I'm very excited as well. Given Bungie's outstanding history, it should be a great time. Maybe not something totally revolutionary, but damn fun.

It seems like there's a lot of shooting. And it's in first person.

It has jetpacks so I guess it'll be better than most but even so I'm just... meh.

I'm not saying its Halo, but it's fucking Halo. XD

All jokes aside, it looks great and I do want to play it, just a little disappointing it looks so much like Bungie's last project. Kinda my fault though hoping they would do something completely different from their last project but oh well. Keeping my fingers crossed for PC.

I am excited for it since I love Bungie a lot, but I am concerned that the way it is designed that playing single player will be the "wrong way" to play Destiny. Bungie made it clear there is still a robust single player experience, yet they keep saying that it will always be better with others. I'm just not too big on online multiplayer so that worries me.

Other than that it looks great to play, and if previews can ease my worries, I cannot wait to try it.

I'm full psyched for this game. I love Halo but 343 and Microsoft completely ruined it though so I really wanna see what Bungie can give us with this game. It looks awesome. Pretty much one of my main reasons for getting a PS4.

I'm very excited with Destiny, and knowing Bungie, it'll likely be very well-made. And, watching their E3 presentation, I'm very much liking what I saw.

My only complaint is that I'm still on the fence as to what platform I'll play it on, so I haven't pre-ordered yet. Otherwise, I'd be set to go. Thankfully, it'll take awhile for it to actually be released (No doubt for quality control and to put the finishing touches on the game itself: Its bound to be a massive undertaking as it is), so I should have time to make up my mind on that.

[EDIT]: I thought I couldn't be much more excited. Then I actually saw the video you posted. I was proven wrong.

Meh. I watched the gameplay footage. It's a standard shooter.

So yeah... things will be shot. Then presumably tea-bagged.

That doesn't make it a bad game, but I'm not about to wet my pants with glee over the prospect of yet-another-fucking-alien-shooting-game.

Also, the multiplayer focus is going to automatically kill any attempt at narrative since it means that (a) everyone is The Chosen One Who Will Save Us All and (b) the world will be populated exclusively by bunny-hopping, tea-bagging, trigger-happy douchebags.

As someone who sat outside the Halo phenomenon while it was happening several years back, this looks pretty damn fun.

Still not enough info on it though for me to make a final decision as to whether this thing has to be in my library.

I'm with Zhukov on this one. I'm not even remotely thrilled about the prospect of another psuedo-MMO or sci-fi shooter from Bungie. I'm laden with bias over an immense dislike of Halo, so maybe I shouldn't even comment. I'm not sure that there's anything that Bungie could make that would sway me at this juncture, particularly anything remotely similiar to Halo.

Bungie knows how to put quality and fun into making game development.

I heavily look forward to Destiny.

Kind of sad that this isn't a confirmed PC release, especially since the architecture of the next gen was supposed to make porting that much easier. Even though there is a rumor of a possibility of it coming to PC, I really doubt it since Bungie didn't plunge that much into PC with Halo. So I honestly could not care about this game if it doesn't come to PC, I'm really not bothering with the next generation of consoles.

Any F.P.S should have a staple of P.C as the platform take counter-strike and call of duty both the most famous f.p.s games yet destiny has turned a blind eye to where the real players would lie in terms of being a combination with MMO as well (WOW anybody). I really hope the game fails because of its sheer ignorance as I was looking forward to playing this game yet I have no sympathy to any product that doesnt market to the right audience.

Oh and If you are wondering about the lore of the game, Here this is my perspective on what the traveler is and what the story will be either taken from or be a part of my favorite series.

How do people get to hate things this much? To each their own, but that kind of hatred, to me, seems like it should be reserved for games like, I don't know, Puppy Strangler.

As for myself, I'm optimistic. I like loot fests, and I enjoy shooters for the most part, and I've always loved the social aspect of MMOs. I also love Martin O'Donnell's compositions; ODST had the best soundtrack of any game, as far as I'm concerned. Fit the atmosphere perfectly. I'm not even a huge Halo fan.

So yeah. It combines a lot of things I'm partial too. It's pretty much the only reason I'm considering a PS4. (As of now.)

Agreed about not being interested in the game

You mistake exaggeration for an absurd amount of enmity. I don't typically go out of my way to even comment on Bungie's efforts. I'm just not interested. I simply nothing them. The fact stands that there's a good chance I'll not pick up their games.

That being said, it's not like I'm going to be organizing hate campaigns over this.

Super-duper excited. Kinda the only game I'm looking forward to in next-gen.

There isn't anything I can point out that I have a huge problem with at the moment.

It's a Halo MMO in short, but obviously they borrow from Star Wars and Warhammer for some art novelty.

If I was into Halo that would probably be the shit, but compared to FPS I like Halo only reaches about one third functionality so it's not that exciting.

Whilst the game looks really fun to play, I find it hard to be excited for a game that I cannot play, having no interest in buying a next-gen console, im just waiting for a PC port to come along.

I don't even...

Ignorance? The developer who made a game that changed the face of gaming for a generation, wanting to primarily stick with consoles where they had their success? Practically each dev said they would love to port it to PC, since many are PC gamers as well as console ones. They just don't have the time, plus Activision might not want their efforts to be focused there at the moment.

Not every FPS needs to be beholden to the PC. This isn't Tribes, Counter Strike, or any other PC shooter. The game isn't even an MMO, from right now it has elements of an MMO, big difference. So the game isn't what you wanted, now you're butthurt. My heart goes out to you.
