Only recently I've started buying games off Steam due to the low prices compared to buying a hard copy and because of the fact I can download steam games uncapped with Telstra now making it so cost effective.

So recently I've bought: (in AUS $ mind you)

GTA 4 $70 ($100 in store)
Far Cry 2 $35 on special (I think $80 in store not sure)
Left 4 Dead $70 ($90-100 in store)

just wondering if anyone else has started doing the same thing since we're not getting ripped off anymore

I'm buying games off of steam more than I buy retail, but recently I've purchased mostly retail games because I can't be bothered downloading something that large.

I never used to buy much off steam, but now we have unmetered servers I do alot, I tend to buy alot of the weekend deals. I still buy most of my latest games off ebay as I can sometimes get them cheaper, but steam is great now it doesn't eat my downloads.
Any Aussies with Bigpond or Internode can use this to limit their downloads to unmetered servers, not everything is on them, but alot is and it helps the download quota alot.

I went to buy the Orange Box from a store in Australia to be told they don't even make it or something anymore...yet it is so popular...so now if I want to get it I guess Steam seems to be the best option.

I love all this talk of buying from Steam. It makes me happy knowing digital distribution is working.

I've been on/off the fence about getting L4D on steam. Might need to make the buy.
