Any way to make this Proteïn Power less bad?

I'm a pretty fit 16 years old, I hit the gym 3x a week and go running 3x a week. Furthermore I play golf competitively and field hockey. So I picked up a box of Protein power as I've been told that it lessens the sore muscles the morning after and increases muscle gain. Only problem is, it tasted like ass.

I have vanilla flavored powder, if that matters. I spend 50 euro's on a big ass pack, so it'd be pretty nice not to have to flush it down the loo. I take 2 spoonfuls into my bottle, and then add water after workout, shake it, and gulp it down.

So the recipe has to be "shakable" into a good shape, without a blender. Would some syrup do the trick, or is syrup not something you want after a workout?

I know these forums aren't dedicated to this sorta thing, but there are so many people here that there have to be at least a few serious athletes/med students/people who know about this.

Thanks in advance.

You bought a protein powder that came with a heavy metal umlaut?

Great gods, that's...pretty awesome.

Wow people are friendly and helpful here. Also, to all grammar Nazis, please continue, English is not my first language and otherwise I will never learn :)

EDIT: I should've just edited my first post : / Will make a new account though, with a better name. I'm not even Irish :)

I used to use a banana flavored with milk. At fist i thought it tasted like shit, but after a few weeks I started liking it. Perhaps you just need to adjust to the taste. ^^

IDK how to make crap taste better, I can however advise you what to go for next time. Personally I always buy chocolate flavoured Body Fortress Muscle & Weight gainer*, I think it tastes awesome, I even just drink it as a drink as opposed to just muscle building. IDK if it's quite the same thing though...and you have to make it with milk. Just make up a pint of it before you go....or maybe you could add your protien powder to it later after your workout?

*No, I'm not an adbot, I'm just sharing my experience in a similar thing. Any company will do I guess, it's just that one is my personal favourite after trying the others.

I used to be into weights quite a few years ago and have tryed my fair share of concoctions..Protein drinks are good, I would normally get a chocolate flavour but thats just me. They do produce results but they can become expensive to use regularly.

A great substitute, which I know sounds disgusting but really isn't that bad, is a glass of orange juice with 3 eggs cracked into it and mix it around..It actually doesn't taste that bad and is probably better than a protein shake..Another thing I used to do was with every meal, I would eat a can of tuna after it, by itself just for extra protein as fish protein is one of the best.

Good luck with it all man, its had work to keep up and keep motivated..I did it for about 3 years but then met a girl and got lazy..Since breaking up I have never had the motivation to get back into it cos at he time I was obsessed with it.

Also if i remember correctly the brand I used to use was Musashi P40 and it actually didn't taste bad at all.

Personally I despise Vanilla flavour protein powders, I go for chocolate and have it with milk rather than water more often than not, it tastes more like a weak milkshake that way.

Brand will also make a difference I imagine, I only went with the one I get because a friend recommended it. I was also smart enough to get a sample to try it out.

The worst mistake you made was getting it in bulk without trying it first.

Alternatively just up your protein in other ways, you don't really need protein powders to gain muscle, they are meant for those wanting more protein without adding calories and those trying to get huge.

Tuna and egg whites are a good way to add protein, as is plain chicken.

some strong syrup like you'd mix with water might work (it's what I do) but be careful not to overdo it or you can very easily end up with a sickly sweet protein drink which makes you feel a little sick inside.

To be fair, this basically says "Protein shakes are just full of calories so you have to work out" - you could happily apply the logic to ANY food.
