With batman arkham city less than a month away i was wondering why there are so few games based on comic book heroes. Besides movie tie-ins and fighting games we really only have the spiderman, batman, and ultamate alliance games. and while they can be fun i still feel that other heroes need their own game. Who wouldn't want to play a deadpool game where you do assassinations missions and fight the x-men, or a iron man game that lets you fly around the city fighting crime. Even a wonder woman hack and slasher would be better than nothing. So what do you guys think? Do any of these games stand a chance of seeing the light of day or are we just going to be stuck with spiderman and batman

No not really.
Doesn't seem to be a general public interest in it anymore, and that there as already been a lot of hero games already.
Sorry it's just not my type of game.

I love super heroes and it would be great if they could actually make good games that feature them.

Unfortunately, what we've got right now are a series of crappy games made to coincide with their movies.

"so few games based on comic book heroes"

...what? There are TONS of games based off of comic book heroes. There are just only a few that are any good. Arkham Asylum is one of them (I've played it, fun for its genre)

Not me. Just not my cup of tea really.

The only superhero games I have ever enjoyed were a couple of the Spiderman games, and the ONLY thing I enjoyed about them was swinging around the city.

Eh, I guess. If I recall correctly, superhero games don't have the best track record ever.

Personally I haven't been able to take superheroes seriously since I was 11. Even then they were a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Um, Deadpool is not a hero. Anyway, yes, I would love to see more superhero games. However, they have to be very well done (a la AA or inFamous).

If they were made like Arkham Asylum (ie. Good) then yes, if they are made like they normally are (ie. shitty) then no.

Yeah I would like more superhero games, but not based on existing superheroes. I like Infamous 2 n' Prototype, but Arkham Asylum is pretty good as well, just more creative superpowers is what I'm after.

Movie Tie-ins? No. They're usually rushed to hell and the quality shows. Ultimate Alliance and DC Universe seemed to work pretty well. I would like to see more developer-created superhero and villain games like Infamous and Prototype.

Yes, in fact one of the things I've wanted to see for years now, and am still surprised we haven't is an in depth, single player Superhero RPG. Where you can make your hero, your powers, your origin story.

Basically I want a game that's like Champions Online or City of Heroes, but single player and much more polished and featuring a more intimate storyline.

As I stated earlier, I'm actually surprised no one has tackled this yet.
Bioware, Bethesda, Obsidian; whichever one of you guys isn't too busy at the moment, get on this!

As for pre existing heroes, eh, why not? A Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 would be nice, or maybe a new open city Spidey game (maybe take some pointers from Spider-Man 2, eh?).

Or hell, someone still hasn't come up with a good Superman game. There's gotta be some way you could hammer a good game out of the premise of "YOU ARE FREAKING SUPERMAN!".

I'm with Valagetti, we need more superhero games that feature original superheroes like Infamous because that leaves more liberty as to what the developer can do and therefore might have some neat things that otherwise wouldn't have been featured.

I'd like to see at least one other good superhero game franchise other than the Batman Arkham series.

Personally I like to see a Captain America open world RPG during WW2...:D

most are, sadly REALLY crappy or movie tie ins >.> so worse

but try City of Heroes or DC Universe, yeah, their MMOs :/ but you can roll your own hero/villain, and CoH is going F2P soon and unlike Champions Online, isn't punishing you for being broke

I think we need more Super Hero RPGs IMO. (no not like city of heros/villians or MMORPGs, i mean SINGLE PLAYER) Seriously how awesome would it be to make your own hero with your own powers in a Spiderman 2: the game type of sandbox and setting!?
i heard the new X-men game coming is kinda like that actually

Could be nice if there was some more good super hero games.

Maybe some less popular characters instead of Spiderman, Batman, etc...

Preferably some single player games instead of all the MMOs.

edit: I hear DC Universe is going free to play soon so I might give that a go to see if that'll quench my desire to wear spandex and shoot laser beams.

Because they aren't Batman, and few characters are as interesting?
