My girlfriend is a musician and she's in need of recording materials, including a camcorder, recording microphone, a tripod (for the cam), and recording software for her laptop. My question to any of you experts out there is, should I get a cheaper camcorder so I can afford to get a cheaper mic as well? Or is the quality of built-in microphones of $250-$300 camcorders just as good as $50 dedicated mics? And also, any suggestions for easy to use recording software for the not so tech-savvy beginners?
