After a few flops (a Creative Fatality and a Plantronics GamesCom 777) I am growing pretty frustrated with headsets. I want something that sounds better than my cheapy radio shack on-top-of-the-ear headset but is actually comfortable. Both the Fatality and GameCom 777 were just HORRIBLY uncomfortable. The Fatality had cups that were way too small, and while the GameCom had cups that are big enough, it was always just way too tight. And believe me, I stretched them out but leaving them on a box 8+ hours a day while i wasn't using them (which is quite a bit bigger than my head of course) and i just couldn't make them comfy.

Are there any out there that are truly comfortable? The most I really want to spend is in the $80 range but...i suppose if I have to spend more to find something truly comfortable, I would.

I looked at lots of reviews before I tried each of those headsets and both spoke of their comfort but I put far more stock in my fellow escapists than i do newegg and amazon reviews ;-)

Well, I got the Razer carcharias headset (I bought mine at best buy for $80), and they are pretty comfy unlike other headsets that I've bought they don't squeeze to your head uncomfortably making wearing them for prolonged periods actually cause pain. Actually I'd say the reverse is more accurate the longer you wear the headset the more "loose" they become.

I bought a Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 at a Walmart for ~$60 the better part of a year ago. Still works fine, is super comfy, and the sound is nice and crisp. Ear cups are cushy and big enough that my ears are surrounded perfectly, while not being compressed whatsoever.

There's even an in-line game volume and mic volume wheel... cord's ridiculously long- that's literally my only complaint. >.>

Heck, it can be used on your pc, 360 and PS3. I lubs it. :3

I use Logitech G930 - their wireless, or wired if you want to charge them while wearing them
Very cooshy earphones, volume knob on left hand side, flexible mic.

Still pricey though, even on Amazon

This. I too have these and they are awesome. They sound good, are pretty tough, keep your ears warm in the winter :)D) and, most importantly, are really comfortable. It's true that they lose their tightness over time, making them somewhat loose, but this can be mitigated by unplugging them and wrapping the (rather long) cable around them on a regular basis, like once every couple of weeks.

I never had problem with head set for they are like wearing glasses, after a short while you don't even notice they are there.

Meh, I usually just use regular microphone hooked up to the computer, plus headphones.

Unfortunately it always just seems to me that headsets usually end up sacrificing the quality of both the quality of the headphones as well as the quality of the mic just to have both on one mechanism.

I got this one recently

Might not be much to look at but fuck it, it was £10.89 on Amazon and I'm a cheap guy ^_^

I'm using a set of Plantronics .655 and while they are not technically speaking a gaming headset they are extremely comfortable (I wear mine 5-6 hours every day at the least), sound quality is good (very clear across the range, bass isn't too exaggerated) and the microphone is also good. Overall very happy with them.

I've also heard great things about the SteelSeries Siberia.

Mine usually revert back to normal tightness after leaving them alone for a few hours, they're never so loose that it becomes a problem.

hmmm, the Carcharias looks really comfortable to me as does that TB X11 though...i wish there was a more efficient way to try headsets out before I buy them rather than just buying and returning but...oh well.

The ones I have now don't suffer with that as much, as they're pretty new, but my last pair (which got yanked off my desk with some force and stopped working) were getting a bit loose. Not wearing them helps (obviously), but you can expedite the contraction process by wrapping the cord around them. Makes them quite comfortably snug afterwards. :D

I can't really help you because I find the 777's comfortable, though they do get very warm in summer. I only play for a couple of hours at a time wearing them though they might get uncomfortable for longer sessions. I have heard good things about the Turtle Beach 5.1 ones, Z6a I think, but they are dear as poison. True 5.1 sound with an inline amp does cost decent money it seems.

Turtle Beach X11 here, forget I am wearing them pretty quickly. Only downside is thick padding on the top thingy bit, leads to brain cooking on hotter days.

get asto A40's they are the best thing on the market without a doubt and well worth the money, my pair are great, really comfortable, great sound, great sound proofing, a good mix-amp and easy to set up.

they are pricey at £150 but if you have the money go for it, spending £150 on a great quality, top of the line T.V would be a bargain so why do people think spending £150 for a great quality, top of the line headset is expensive?
