Had some success with this before so I thought I would try it here. In case you don't know, Bid Poker is a strategy game from the manga Liar Game and in my opinion, it's perfect as a forum/online game.

You don't even need to know how to play poker, just the hand rankings.

Rules
Part 1: Setting Up
Each player is given 300 coins but at the end of the game, 100 will be taken back, so don't spend all your coins unless you are certain you can earn it back. You can end up in a negative value because of this and you are to avoid this at all costs.

Part 2: Dealing Session
The 52 poker cards will be arranged into lots of either 5 or 6 cards and arranged alphabetically in 'Lot A, Lot B, etc...' for the players to consider. After the consideration time is up, players will bid on how much they wish to pay the dealer. (i.e. spent and removed from the player pool) Bids are made anonymously and once the bidding time is up, the bids are shown and the highest bidder wins the lot. If 2 or more players offer the same amount, the faster player wins.

Part 3: Discard Session
This part gives the players the opportunity to improve the rank of their hand. Players will be given a period of time to discard any cards they do not want or need. The cards discarded during that session will form into one lot and will be arranged alphabetically in the order the players discarded. Again, cards discarded will be anonymous until the discard session is over and the lots are revealed.

When the lots are revealed the same as the dealing session occurs except the coins spent by the winning bidder will be given to the player who owned the lot. Players can't bids on lots they themselves discarded and if a lot has no bidders, the cards go back to the player who discarded it.

Once all the bidding of a discard session has been done, the next session begins. There will be 5 discard sessions in all.

Part 4: Ranking and Winning
Once the 5th discard session concludes the players will be ranked in order of the strength of their poker hand. If a player has less than 5 cards or has a High Card hand, they are considered a Pig, a player with no proper placement and will be placed last. There can be more than 1 Pig.

If the player has more than 5 cards, the 5 forming the strongest hand will be used for ranking.

At the end of the game the players in last place will take a 150 coin penalty (again, can be reduced below 0) and the player in 1st place will gain 100 coins for each loser. 2nd place: 40 coins for each loser. 3rd place: 10 coins for each loser.

In the end, coin totals will be tabulated and the ultimate winner will the one who achieves the most coins. While you might think the player who places 1st in hand ranking will always win, if all other players achieve valid ranking hands, s/he will only gain 100 coins from the player in last place.

Joining
This game can only be played with a certain amount of players (around 10) so if you're interested, post below and on 30 August (Friday) 1200 +8 UTC I'll post who has been randomly selected to participate and what the schedule will be like.

Please join only if you have the time to spare as this will probably be a long game (maybe around 3 - 4 weeks) and you'll probably need to check your messages often as Bid Poker is a social game.

I will probably create another forum for the game proper. You don't really need to read the manga to play this game but if you want: mangafox.me/manga/liar_game/ Start from chapter 139 for the Bid Poker arc.

Forgot to mention if it wasn't obvious: I'll be the dealer/game master. Players will be PMing me for bidding and card discards.
