Hello and Happy HOHOHOlidays, Fellow Escapists!

As this is winter break for me, I would like to know what other people in the higher education system are glad they don't have to deal with right now. Me personally, I'm happy that I can work 40 hours a week and not feel exhausted ALL THE TIME.

I consider IB to be higher education!

And I feel good about not having any school right now. Gives me time to lurk around the Escapist.

I work and go to school at the same time. Now that I'm out of college for a month, my boss is scheduling me more. Not much change for me. I wish I could take a vacation from everything for about a week or two.

I see no problem with it.
Seems like a waste of time at first, but believe me...you'll want it once you don't have it.

I was given a crap load of stuff to do from my Ap classes over break.

And I haven't touched it.

Yea, higher education sucks

There's no way I'd get into anything worthwhile without higher education. Not in my hometown, anyway.

Got degree 2 years ago, now working at last. I hated studying, only did it cuz I had to. Wanted to quit after 1st year. Played more warcraft than study XD but I still got 2:1 .

What's wrong with higher education?

For me it'd cost nearly £20,000... And I don't have £20,000...

This makes me sad...

Yes i'm not looking forward to the amount of debt that i'm going to have after my 3 years at uni. Also dealing with student finance is just a headache!

Well its not for everyone.

And there are plenty of skilled, high paying jobs you can get without it, i.e becoming specialised in a trade.

Nothing wrong with higher education, nothing wrong with not having a higher education. For me personally, I don't think I'd ever be happy without it, not because I don't think I could get a job without it, but because I like understanding and learning about things, and I don't think I could get that deeper understanding without going to university.

That's a nicely balanced view, well done. I dropped out of uni, because I was utterly bored. The lectures were dull, the books were awul, and I have never really been keen on socialising...which didn't leave alot, and I just couldn't picture myself slogging it out for another 2 years. The problem being, I didn't have any particular subject that I wanted to do. Uni is absolutely worthwhile if you're working towards something that you want to do, but if you're aimless in life...you may want to save yourself the debt...

...I do get tired of defending my not getting a degree.

I'm happy that I literally cannot have any sort of scheduling conflicts for doing stuff next week, since I'm not actually allowed to go to work until January 4th. Huzzah for free time.

I have four essays in for the first day back (18th of January).

Kinda sucks. Only one of them is Summative though, the rest are formative and thus optional.
