EDIT: The purpose of this thread really isn't to discuss the meaning of the word "******" other than the fact that it is an insult (or at least used as in insult in the situations that I am referring to). I'm simply pointing out how at some point or another I have been insulted for using just about every gun in the game. So basically there is no gun that isn't cheap if I kill someone with it.

OT: Why so much name calling over every weapon? Also where did you get this idea or heard about the weapons implying homosexuality in the first place? If I get the game, I choose a gun that suits my style of playing. Besides- personally I don't get the purpose of this Thread.

No. ****** is not being used in a homosexual way. It is a generic all purpose insult. As it was before some people started using it as a homophobic slur. Just because some people started using it that way does not mean that they now have a permanent claim on it.

Well "******" is an offensive slur to homosexual males, at least by its dictionary meaning. But, my point was that you can't really do anything on the game without someone insulting you. These type of people can't just accept that they got killed or lost a match, they have to make lame excuses for themselves.

It's become less of a anti-gay hate word and more of an all-purpose negative suffix, at least on the internet. Basically, everyone's a fag in one way or another.

I was just pointing out that it seems like every weapon you use in the game, someone will eventually come up with some way to say it is cheap. The homosexuality thing was referring to the most often used "****** weapon" insult.

The current usage is incredibly far removed from the dictionary definition, at least as far as the internet goes.

The only people that would use ****** to refer to gay males are southern hicks or trailer trash, really.

As far as calling everyone ELSE a ****** constantly, that's just the Xbox environment, which is mostly composed of 12-year olds without decent parents.

I kid, I kid :}. Truth be told, that's a good point to bring up but I guess I just got a tad confused when reading your OP fellow Escapist. No biggy, you perfectly explained it all now to me so I appreciate you notifying me of the purpose.

What's cool about MW3 is that your weapon increases by using it a lot. So even with the weakest weapon, using it enough can do better then a well off weapon. Besides that, doesn't matter what people say. They just rage over nothing, especially trying to start trouble by these name calling along with flat out trolling. Ignore them, and the resistance shall make them eat their controller since they cannot get to you.

Aye, I generally just ignore them. It isn't like it gets to me, I just find it hilarious at what lengths people will go to justify their loss.

Like I said, does not matter if some people use it as a slur towards homosexuals in general. Nowadays it does not mean that anymore. It has gone back to/evolved into a all purpose insult.

Well, whatever ****** means, be it an offensive slur towards a homosexual man, or an all purpose insult, I merely titled it implying homosexuality in a sarcastic way.

The purpose of this thread really wasn't intended to discuss the meaning of the term. I just find it amusing how it seems like every tactic or weapon used in a multiplayer game, someone will find some way to insult you for using it. Therefore there is basically nothing in the collective eyes of the game's community you can do that isn't cheap/noobish/worthy of insult/etc.
