So, with the wintery juggernaut rolls into town, replete with fat red-dressed man and sacks of gifts, I wondered what the most enjoyable parts of the festive holiday were for people and what's most wanted for their presents, if they celebrated.

So I open the floor to you, members of the forum. Most enjoyable parts of Christmas, and what have you been hinting at for the last couple of weeks in vain hope of being rewarded with the present? =D

Personally, the best part for me is the break from studies, and I'm hoping to get Fallout 3, because I haven't had time to go out and buy it myself.

My sister's coming at the end of this week! AND I got Halo 3 with an extra controller, so it will be just like old times...
Except with a Brute spiker, and the special brute stik.

My mother will be there to roll her eyes at our sillieness, and then we'll make tasty food together and have company over. My dog will hate it all, except for the attention (of course) and then a Chinese guy will come for a few days, since he can't really go all the way back to China for a week...

Sadly, I am one of those horrible, horrible people who does not enjoy christmas that much. I like getting presents (which this year will probably consist of several games because I haven't asked for anything) but I see my family regularly anyway so the only thing different at christmas is that theyre all in my house being drunk. That said, watching a relative throw up on themselves on the way home never gets old.

I always like the overall cheerfulness that the holidays usually brings. People tend to be nicer around this time. More importantly becuase even for a day or two I get to take a break off from the world and enjoy time with my mom and family like I used to before life got complicated. What with bills, girl friend, kids, and work.

I've wanted the new Prince of Persia and Resistance 2. I've asked for the Star Wars Millennium Falcon novel that was just released as well as other books and novels.

Two weeks off work! Boss said don't come in from next Tuesday and I'm taking 2nd Jan off so I get a lovely time off. Longest holiday I've had all year.

That and I don't dislike my family (that much). Beer, turkey, curry (we're an odd family) and those awesome bacon/cheese rolls you only get this time of year.

And bread sauce, hmmm. Best single fork full of food: turkey (dark meat), sage & onion stuffin, roast potato, gravy & bread sauce. Fuck yeah.

I have approx. 11 days off come Tuesday next week so I'm really looking forward to that. Also my little brother and sister will be in town to spend x-mas with the family. My girlfriend will also be spending x-mas with my family as hers winged it to Vietnam to escape the gadawful weather here (-26*C at the moment).

Haha, Christmas food. Yeah. My favourite would have to be sausages in bacon. Because I'm a massive meat-eater, apparently. It's not my fault the animals happened to be so delicious. =]

Bloody stupid evolutionary move on their part, being so tasty and all. Oh shit, I just remembered. My family has to have that discussion again...who gets the turkey legs? There's me, my mum, my brother and my dad. Only mum won't want it and I'm older brother so I can normally pull rank.

Turkey cooked bacon + sausages wrapped in bacon + cheese wrapped in bacon + heavy drinking = heart attack city.

So, you'll be heading the line in the traditional Christmas A&E rush? =P

Every year I make eighty to ninety chocolate chip cookies and give them out to all my friends on Monday.

And the presents.

I personally am hoping for a 360, otherwise I'll have to actually get off my ass and go buy one myself. :p Christmas is great on many levels! I get to live in a warm house for 4 weeks, eat proper food again, see the family and all my friends from back home. Though every weekend here and there I nip back off to university town to earn a little more money...

Hells yeah. Boxing Day is going to be the killer. 3-4 late lunch at parents house, 6-late dinner and drinking with best mates (I'm kind of an adopted flatmate).

Looking forward to it. Two of my best mates, three other mates, one mate's lesbian sister and respective's American girlfriend. Last time we drunk together I passed out around 3am. Naturally we have organised so the three women present cook. The men are paying.

I'm being told I'm getting Fallout 3 for christmas, and Left 4 Dead, because honestly, I don't know what I want. I have pretty much everything I want, so I intend to give to a friend who cant' afford christmas this year.
But for me, I hope that maybe my family and I can actually get along for christmas, in a way we don't the rest of the year round.

We are going to do the Christmas morning thing with my brother-in-law and his kids, then spend the rest of the day at my mother's. The kids are getting very excited about Santa coming. We ordered a live call from Santa at www.ezsantaletters.com for the youngest. It was set up for last night. I wish everyone could see how wide his eyes got when I handed him the phone and told him who it was. That look was probably the best gift I'll get this year.

Getting gifts is nice, but these days it's mostly meeting up with my relatives now that I don't see them much outside of holidays. Oh, and precious, precious sleep.

Next year, though, I think the biggie will be spoiling my niece. She's too young right now at 1yr 1mo to really know what's going on, but by age two she should be a bit more aware of the whole Christmas thing.
