Are Cabbie Hats Cool?

Not having actually seen the latest Jason Statham movie I can't be specific with character names. Anyway, Statham's newest sidekick can commonly be seen wearing a cabbie hat in the trailers. Don't know why this bothered me so much but I never really considered a cabbie hat to be badass material.

Have times changed I just haven't noticed?

I never liked the look of them. I mean, I don't mind other people wearing them, but don't offer me one. I'll stick to my military patrol cap, thanks.

I don't think its particularly badass but it's still a nice hat. The only badass hat is a top hat of course, presumably accompanied by a monocle and a mustache.

It can be badass, the person underneath can ruin it. A brandy glass can also increase badass quotient.
