Okay so I want to hear the dumbest thing you have ever seen a villain or a bad faction in a video game do?

Mine would be the Collectors destroying the Normandy and killing commander Shepard.

They just wasted resources. Sure it allows the game to play out the way it does but they could have captured the Normandy and make Shepard they're slave. Just implant a chip in his brain and boom. They could have allowed you to escape from them with the Normandy, grab a team, then deal with the collectors. Doesn't it make sense?

Probably in Halo where even though the covenant just glass the planets from orbit at the end of an invasion, they still go through the whole invasion step, seems simple to me to skip that point. Especially as Humans do quite well on the ground but get their arses handed to them in space.

Argh. How massive can a spoiler possibly be? Seriously, PLEASE use spoiler tags, even if you might think this is common knowledge.

here's the deal though, in case you don't recall the rest of the game. *SPOILER* you hand their asses to them on a silver platter.

killing Shepard is the best thing they could have done, would anyone have counted on you being brought back to life. last time I checked death was a pretty permanent thing. not to mention brining Shepard back to life is a one time deal, the cost for the project was astronomical.

*end Spoiler*

OT: the dumbest thing I've seena villian do is basically any big boss fight where he stops firing at you and opens up a giant target for you, like in ME2 when you get legion and for some reason a giant target just appears on the core and then is blocked. Why would you ever unblock the target? seriously

You, for making such a spoiler and not knowing how to make spoilers

Stipid and evil.
Expect to be hearing answers like mine for a while.

Otherwise, I would have to say Dr. Robotnik, for taking the time to make Evil bean-using robots.

Andrew Ryan. I suppose he was making a point, but why does he need to
get killed to do it?
A proper dictator would use the escape submarine at that point.

I'm going to make a broad statement about dumb villains...the ones that have their enemy where in their clutches and ready for the kill but instead of finishing the job they spend 10 mins talking and making some big speech.

bowser it's got to be bowser the most self-defeating boss character of all time, in super mario world he had that axe behind him that destroyed the bridge, in super mario world 3 he threw the little things at you that allowed you to kill him, the list goes on and on if he was really invested in what he does he would just get a gun waste the plumber and then do what ever it is he has need of princess peach for, maybe to make bowser jr the second?

That works much better, and doesn't ruin the game for me that I had been deliberately avoiding spoilers for until I could actually get the game.
You could have at least said "In ME2 when the gumdrop king lets you take over his throne"[footnote]Not an actual plot event I hope[/footnote]

OT; Bosses having "vulnerable" stages that they can't do anything in between attacks, it seems a it silly to me.

First of all, they're working for the Reapers, who aren't exactly thrilled about what Shepard did to Sovereign, the guy their entire plan to reenter the galaxy hinged on. Second of all, you're probably still equiped from the first game, and I don't know about you, but I had a rifle that tore the largest of geth into small pieces instantly. The laser was a much safer bet. Third, they blew up the ship, sending the pieces down from orbit, superheated, into a frozen wasteland with blizzards that would instantly cover up the deed. They went with the smart plan. It's not their fault that they didn't know that a SECRET organization was watching for the very second Shepard died to bring him back to life. Plus, the Normady is completely destroyed when you see it again. That ship given to you by Cerberus is said several times over to be a replica.

Actually, it seems like what the Collectors did made sense.
The Normandy was low-tech compared to Collectors stuff, and they had no way of expecting Commander Shepard to live.

Alma, for making me rage on Nightmare.

OT - The robot from 'splosion man. Lasers = Instakill, but rockets = reflect-o-kill. Why not just use lasers the whole time?

Star Wars I can just see how many times they should have just killed Anakin, Luke, Obi Wan.... the list keeps going on. I mean they captured each of the above stated heroes about 3 times each and despite being the dark side that kills everyone they all some how live until it gets to the point where they aren't a necessary character. It seems like Lucas runs out of dialogue for a character and says hey... he is more valuable dead.
