I'm not entirly sure if this belongs here but here goes... recently i've found i'm only seeking entertainment from video games and i'm spending alot of my free time only playing video game despite the fact that there are several movies i want to watch, books i want to read and music i want to listen to, but my time goes straight to video games and i'm wondering if anyone else has this same problem.

Is the whole interactive part of this media slowly destroying non interactive media, or should i just have someone hide my controller from me for a week or 2. I would like to hear other peoples thoughts on this

Its just a phase, you'll get sick of games for a bit and then do other things.

Also, I find that when I do play games that have a book, movie or TV show counterpart I find myself wanting to watch or read it.

I don't think so. People like to sit and do not much, you can't really do that while your playing a game.

Title: "Are video games destroying other media?"

OP: "Am I not interested in other media anymore?"

I don't know. Honestly, I don't see why that would be such a big deal. On the other hand, if there are things you want to do and aren't doing, then go do them. No, really. Stop posting and go do them. Procrastination won't solve anything.

Meh when you've played just about every genra you find yourself waiting for new games, you then fill your time with books and tv again. ^^ Also you can listen to music while playing games. it's the same with books and tv shows, if you watch a shitload of 1 genra you find that a lot of shows are just bader versions of other shows, Which is a bit like when you have played a fps game; you end up comparing them to cod and notice that they are indeed very similar.. your looking if they have improved anything and if they have you play it.

I'm on a games and old-shows-I-watched-as-a-kid binge right now, but that'll change. Reading binges can get crazy.
OP: It is a phase, it'll pass. If it doesn't, just enjoy the games.
