I always hate any fanboy rage rants on here or anywhere, I think they are mindless and serve no purpose for what these forums are used for.

Personally I am a PS3 owner and I wouldent change it for the world. I dont mind xbox though, I even bought one to play some exclusives then sold it on.

So it would seem I dont hate xbox or xbox players, or so i thought. Just reading about fallout vegas and its bugs got me to the conclusion that the xbox bugs (like the save corrupting one) were much worse than the mostly cosmetic PS3 bugs. Instead of feeling indiferent about consoles and thinking it was hard luck on the xbox owners, my first reaction was a kind of "woohoo your bugs are worse than ours" attitude.

I dont know if this is because of my continued use of all the playstations through the ages creating a loyalty feel or if it just easy to fall into a fanboy mentality when you have millions of xbox users shouting about how good their consol is without real justification (which would obviously work the other way for xbox users getting shouted at by PS3 owners).

So what do you think are we all a little bit fanboy? or is it possible to favour one console and be indifferent about people on the other side?

Everyone's a bit fanboy. If not about consoles, then about something else.

Which is why sometimes it bothers me more to see people telling others to live and let live or to ignore their pet peeves on these forums, especially in threads that clearly denote that they're rage and rant threads. What makes anyone think that fanboys don't 'live and let live?' It's just ranting on the internet, it's not hate crimes or bullying.

Why does this make me think of the Ron White "We're all a little bit gay." joke...

Everyone is at least a bit of a fanboy about something. It's important to remember that most fanboys are reasonable, though - you just get the occasional one who starts a crusade against things that aren't in his "fanboy spectrum" if you will. You'll find plenty of those in the Valve fanbase on these forums, but on a day-to-day basis IRL there are console arguments, Halo vs CoD arguments, and the like between the most extreme fanboys.

Most of the people I know will just go "XX was shit" if they didn't like something, and leave it at that unless someone else calls them out on that. Meanwhile, on the internet, people have time to type out "XX was shit because *assertion assertion assertion, maybe an opinion or two, assertion assertion assertion*". Which is the more irritating varies.

im a huge fanboy, not for anything game related, im a kubrick fanboy, a gay fanboy (straight people are the stupid and sux), but then again you can claim that anything people are passionate about makes them fanboys, but the only fanboish thing i have said about a console is that i hate the xbox controller, the shape makes my knuckles hurt after a few minutes.

"I'm a little bit countryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"
*ahem*
sorry...

Anywho, I wouldn't call it being a fanboy, it's just that we really can't help it. No matter how much you recognize the good and bad points about any system, you'll always be a little bit biased towards the system you own and know more about.

If you're on a forum about videogaming, you're a fanboy.
Or a troll :p

OT: Almost everyone defends something to an extent, even if they dont voice their opinions.

I feel the exact same way as you.

For example everytime someone brings up 360 exclusives i always play the "360 exclusives you can get on Pc" card. Despite it being true i do feel like a fanboy saying that.

No matter what though their would always be that little "fanboy" in all of us.

Fanboy is a term specifically designed to those that exagerate and over compensate in the area of choise (be it consoles or other stuff) so by definition, you cant be a "little bit" you either are or are not.

I'm a PC gamer, and we are the leetist of teh noobs,

Oh how I joke.. anyway I agree we are all a bit fan-boyish at times, I defend WH 40,000 whenever it gets beaten up by those mean blizzard people... I just can't help but try to diminish people's self esteem over the Internet.

Of course we are all fanboys at least a little. The worst kind of fanboy though, one who refuses to admit that he is a fanboy even though he's got posters and action figures of whatever it is he's a fanboy about in his room. DAMN YOU SAM!

You people do understand that there is a difference between a "fan" and a "fanboy", right?

We're all a little fanboy-ish, its natural, if you spend xxx hundred on a console you will be compelled to convince yourself that it was the right choice.

Its the same as we're all a little bigoted about certain things deep down. What matters is how you deal with it and if you try and force it on others

Fwell, I believe it was an ancient Japanese proverb that said (by which I mean I can't remember where I heard it, thus it is an ancient Japanese proverb by default) that the bravest man is not the one without fear, but the one who has fear and can confront it. I suppose the same thing applies. We are all fanboys/girls, what counts is whether or not we can reign it in when it's appropriate.

Oh, right... I heard that on Xiaolin Showdown... But I'm pretty sure it exists elsewhere, too |:|
