I use Kaspersky, it works pretty well. Although it has an annoying habit of mistaking some of my games for keylogggers; fortunately it doesn't actually do anything about 'em other then pop up a warning.
Does the same thing for me. Also noticed that even when it finds something "BAD" that is all it does. Pops up the Oh we found this message and you accually have to go in and remove it yourself. Other than one or two games it is pretty consistant though.

I use AVG free, have done for a few years now. The only time I've ever got a virus was the time my cousin received and opened one of these stupid MSN viruses (the "OMG! I found this picture, is that really you?? @@@@@@@@._____.com" ones). It slaved my computer and used an old unused version of Norton to spam-email people until I pulled the internet connection. AVG scanned it, deleted it and it's been fine since.

yeah with the 2 anti-virus they scan on diffrent days one on Tuesday, one on Saturday, so they never compete like that.
If you ever get a virus there's a really good chance they'll both go after it and have a good little fight.

But I guess if it works for you then keep doing it. Just be wary, two AV's at one time can cause unexpected problems...
I have never heard 2 AV programs causing problems. Anyone else have this problem with running two. Even if they are on seperate days?
once in my life i had norton and AVG running at the same time. the thing that happened was that at some point i got a virus. AVG detected it and put it in it's vault. But both antivirus was configure to scan every repertory, even system and hide ones. so, the next day norton scanned found a virus... in AVG vault. it moved it to it's own vault, but AVG didnt let Norton delete something in it's vault, so the virus was only copy in norton's vault.

and then the next day ? AVG scanned, found a virus in... Norton vault, copy it to it's own, but norton was pissed of that AVG didnt let it delete the virus in it's vault, so it did the same for AVG. But then, Norton scanned again, and this time there was 2 virus in the avg's vault, that was copy to norton's vault, then AVG found 3 virus in norton's vault, etc.

after a week or so, there was hundreds of virus in each vaults.

and for the record, i now use ESET nod 32. it doesnt cost much, but my home computer and my laptop have access to my job network by VPN, so they must be secured.

Also, Avast 5 will be very, very good.
It will have behaviour blocking, so, it (should) be almost flawless.

Agree with you 'bout Panda. But...have you tired Norton 2010? If it uses too many resources it's a problem with your PC.
Avira is one of the best AVs availible, as is Microsoft security essentials. Go read some reviews.
AVG will let viruses into your PC, believe me, it will, do a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Superantispyware and get back to me...
I use AVG Internet Security 2009 and I have scanned with Malwarebytes before. I have no viruses, trojans, or malware at all ever. If Norton uses less system resources that is a miracle of technology as Norton has always been the most system heavy AV of any and all of them. I also heavily disagree with you about anything Microsoft puts out for AV. They are huge resource hogs. I have done computer support as a job and Microsoft Security Essentials always slows systems way down even if they have a good amount of RAM and a hefty processor.

AVG is good I guess, although I could see over 100 viruses in the Windows folder on my computer (they were literally strings of random characters with things like SP%M, H@CK, v*r*s and random stuff like that in them. Who the hell names their virus virus?) and AVG said my computer was clean...

A combination of AVG Free and common sense have kept my computer free of viruses, and I've never had any problems.

That's a fair enough critiscism on some systems, but in any case I would reccomend using avira, as it is very, very good. At least until Avast 5 is released.

I'm using A-Squared at the moment, it's very good, but it does kill my ping in games.

What do you guys think of Kaspersky?
Kaspersky is one of the best out there, and has a very good firewall. If you're willing to pay for AV protection it is very good.
Plus it has application control (HIPS)

Never heard of Avira so I can't comment on it. I never used Avast but I have heard it is good. I have never heard of A-Squared either so again no comment. Another one that is great and very light on system resources if Trend Micro. It is also very cheap for the official full version.

In all of the tests I've seen Trend Micro has done badly. I'm gonna go read a review :p

My suggestion for anyone who has computer resources that need a good using for nothing grab you some norton or McAffee.

Frankly I went for ages without one, if anyone DOES steal my identity they are in for a rude surprise when they can't use it for shit (They'd end up owing money ;p).

However just in general I grab Avast or AVG just to shut up windows. I have enough frequent backups of my important stuff and I don't do anything stupid so I doubt I'll be getting a Virus anytime soon (haven't since I first started using computers).
