Depending on the type of apocalypse... If it happens to be that the Christians were right, I may be screwed, I may not. Not sure where I fall on that scale...
If there's a nuclear MAD scenario, I'm close enough to MacDill AFB, the East coast main Air Force base that happens to be only a slight step down from the Pentagon in the military hierarchy and thus would most likely be wiped out by nuclear strikes before I knew what was what. If it were a viral apocalypse, I've got a place to go hopefully I'm not infected on the way there... plus its far enough in the countryside, rural area where there aren't a lot of people.
I've got survival skills of a sort and know how to make a solar still for fresh water in case the well dries up. Hunting is fairly plenty in that area too and I do know enough about butchery to make a go of it and pick up what I don't know by trial and error, know how to cut firewood, dig a safe firepit and how to dispose of waste, recycle materials for later use. Problem solving skills taught to me by various outlets in my life to where I can think outside the box and somewhat MacGuyver shit if need be and a rudementary knowledge of chemistry if need be.
So in various scenarios that don't end up in explosive vaporizing death raining down from above or tidal rises/waves or upheavals of the tectonic plates in my area, yes I think I am fairly ready. Hopefully my family is willing to learn as well, I know my father is but I wonder about others.
