Are you done with zombies?

I hear a lot of people talking about how the zombie genre needs to be spiced up, and people wanting new scenarios to shoot the undead in.

Would you agree? Do you think zombies are over now, and we need to find something else to shoot at?

If L4D and Zombieland have shown us anything, it's that the old, beaten concept of a zombie and the medium around it still has the potential to be creative. Go ahead with new zombie stuff, as long as it's good and fresh.

I'm not saying zombies aren't fun, I'm just saying people always complain that these days zombie games look so generic. I dunno why.

I've been over with the zombie thing since I first heard of zombies. I rarely make exceptions to my idea that the concept of the "zombie" is fucking retarted. I only enjoy it in certain video games and movies making fun of the zombie genre (Shaugn of the Dead, Zombieland).

Not yet, not ever. Seeing Zombieland made me love zombies even more. New scenarios are great for any type of story or genre honestly.

I like killing zombies, I just feel like it needs to be something better than Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising.
What I want is a game where you're fighting off zombies (in a L4D fashion) but in a different time-line...middle ages? Aztec zombies? Zombie templars?I don't really like shooting, but I do love hacking and slashing and if L4D 2's melee combat is fun, I would really love to see this happen. Roman gladiator zombies? I would love that.

The only game I have enjoyed with zombies as the focus has been Dead Rising. Yes I am aware of Left 4 Fred, it is adequate. I just don't think Co-Op means gimping every player.

Sorry buddy, theyre here to stay. You variety isnt too great though. Resident Evil's not-zombies and Dead Rising's hilarious zombies are probably as diverse as its going to get.
