While browsing the series of tubes we call the internet, I happened across this little number:
http://www.xoxide.com/3rdspace-gamingvest-black.html

Are you a gamer that often complains about the unrealistic aspects of FPS shooters? Maybe you crave a little more danger and intensity in your online play? If you ever wanted a truly authentic real-world simulation of an online battlefield, this is it. That's right, the TN Games 3rd Space Gaming Vest acts as both a highly fashionable piece of attire and a ultra-realistic simulation of what it's like to take a direct gunshot to the chest. Whiners...prepare to cry like a little girl.

That's right, this is the real deal. This TN Games 3rd Space Gaming Vest (Small / Medium) contains eight active zones that simulate the precise direction and brute force of online bullet fire and bone-rattling explosions as they occur in-game. Thanks to the alignment of the pneumatic actuators positioned inside the vest, where you get shot in the game will be the same spot you feel an intense pulse on your body. To sweeten the deal, the FPS Vest is bundled with two games (including one of the best FPS shooters ever made - Call Of Duty? 2). Both included PC games showcase the dynamic experience of the FPS Vest.

Now, we should probably add a disclaimer here stating that the vest is perfectly safe and won't cause any bodily harm...but c'mon, that would just ruin the fun, wouldn't it?
So what do you think, Escapist? Too far, or just what the doctor ordered? If the thing wasn't a whopping $140, might try it out. Might be fun at parties, and probably helps give you a sense of direction in-game, and it's sure to force you into more careful combat habits.

I buy a FPS so I don't have to get shot like in the real Army, it kind of defeats the purpose...

I saw this vest on the discovery channel, It was ment for medical purpouse I think but the guy hooked it up to his xbox and talked about how it made him a better player. I probaly would not use it I don't see the point of induceing pain. People are stupid sometimes I could never see the novelty in getting hurt or other people hurt.

I think it'd be interesting to see how smug all those 12 year olds on Xbox live would be after playing with this thing.

Oh and, I want one!!!

Exactly. If i wanted to shoot people with a chance of actually dying I would join the army.

I wonder if the vest also gives you a handjob while you are getting healed. I mean its only fair if it hurts you when you get shot that you feel nice when you get healed.

Theres a fine line between "hardcore" and "incredibly stupid".

Well, its not really fine, but in either case this crosses it. Majorly.

That vest is a waste of time and money. It's just some air pockets hooked into a small compressor. It runs loud and doesn't hurt as much as startle. Sure a bit of air pushed into a small area all at once is going to sting, but it's nothing close to simulating the power of a real bullet.

...

Somebody actually made a vest that (poorly) simulates being shot while playing an FPS game. This is a real product that they want $140 dollars for.

...

Well it's fairly obvious the rational laws of the universe have been shattered beyond all hope of reparation. Now we can fly!! Fleen garble blargh honk, perflugbible!

That looks like one of the most awesome things ever. I'm not going to buy it because its really expensive and I don't play PC fps's (although I prefer PC for RPGs), but if they make one that works with consoles I'll get it.

I'd do it for a while but then I'd get owned.

If I want to get hit, I'll just paintball.
Agreed. I play paintball for the adrenaline rush and if I didn't think that my FPS experience was "intense" enough, I'd just pick up my gun, head over to the local paintball place, and get all shot up there.

And the guys I play with definitely do NOT go easier on girls.

I would love to have this thing, and if a game was set up through live that forced it to be used, I would love that as well (though people can just take it off, but leave it hooked up). Immersion is a huge thing, so this is just a step towards what I like.

I foresee this vest selling moderately for the first few weeks until people stop buying it altogether.

It's just something that blasts air into you! It doesn't hurt that much.

Now the PainStation that's something to be feared.
