Just finished my third play through and would like to thank Rocksteady for this truly amazing jem of a gaming experiance.

Out of curiosity do you mind elaborating this statement, I'm truly curious to see your position on this. On topic, I personally loved the game, save for the boss fights. I say Rocksteady pulled off a good game with this one.RAKtheUndead said:I reckon that this game just exemplifies the poor state of the computer game industry over the last year, recycling a genre which I feel should be resigned to the pages of video game history. Batman: Arkham Asylum may be a particularly good example of the genre, but then, by my reckoning, that still only makes it a polished turd.
I don't see how burying a genre would achieve anything.RAKtheUndead said:As you may have read, I'm not a fan of third-person beat-'em-up games in general. I personally think that the only genre more clichéd than the TP beat-'em-up is the World War II FPS, so Batman: Arkham Asylum gets marked down immediately on that regard.
Now, when you actually get into the game, you see that they've ticked most of the right boxes within the genre itself, with fairly visceral action and whatnot. However, it only works for about five minutes before I start getting utterly bored, something which comes with the genre. 2009 had far more than its fair share of games in this now extremely tired and utterly dull genre, and even though Batman: Arkham Asylum was probably the best of them, it doesn't change the fact that I really, really want the genre to die as soon as possible. People claim that they want original games; the fact that they all rush towards the nearest clichéd title shows their hypocrisy in plain sight.
