Me and a friend had an awesome time playing the first game, pimping weapons needlessly and shouting "BACK TO BACK!" every now and then. It's taken a while but I went down to visit and purchased the sequel and am kinda disappointed. I like the morality moments but there doesn't seem to be any real consequence, the back-to-back is rarely in it. There's little variety - at least the first game had a handglider mission to break it up a bit.

It was completed disappointingly fast too. It'd be rubbish to play alone with a computer controlled partner imagine.

And yet - I want a third game as it's still kinda fun to pimp your weapons, though it needs to be more like the first game.

I know this is now an old game, but I don't know anyone else that's played it - so did anyone else play this?

I played the first one multiple times with different friend and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I only played the demo for The 40th Day. It seamed like a decent game, but I didn't end up buying it.

I got the original Army of Two quite a while ago and i have to say that i did enjoy it, but was unsure whether to buy The 40th Day as i had heard bad things about it

However I recently took the plunge and got it, at first I really enjoyed it and thought that it seemed to be on par with the original, although to my disappointment I became bored of it quite quickly.

I think one of the problems for me was, like you touched on, the lack of variety. I also found that the overuse of heavies took away from the feel of it; in the first game the heavies seemed to be used not as often so it seemed like they were more of a threat and a big deal, however in the 40th day they seem to be used too often. Or maybe thats just me.

The morality system was a nice touch, although as you said, seemed to have no consequence, which is a shame in my opinion as that could have been really quite interesting.

actually the AI for the 40th day wasn't too bad. my friend and i are playing through it on contractor difficulty and it's proven to be a bit of a challenge.

That's a good point about the heavies, had a case of "oh look another big guy" as opposed to "aaaaaagh!!". I want a third game but don't know if 40th day sold as well as first game. Time will tell I suppose!

Are you kidding me? After deciding on a couple of them I felt like I'd been kicked in the balls. They're really well done!

I liked the game as a whole. As far as mindless blasting goes it does it quite well; but then again I was playing it with a human companion.

I think I just expect too much, they rarely felt like they made any practical difference to the game/story. I went through trying to make the right moral choice and some of the results were rough (my mate kept leaving the decisions to me then calling me an arse for the outcome..) After playing through again, there's very little variation in most the outcomes. It was a nice addition but could've potentially been more rewarding

I get you if you mean they make no difference to Salem and Rios, because that is true. How they ripple through the lives of the people you save / kill is another matter.

I thought the first one was loads of fun, but 40th Day did seem a bit meh.

That took away my diamond studded minigun...and my gold-plated pirate pistol... :[

the first army of two was a broken, bland TPS
40th day had much improved combat, many more customization options, and a (sort of) stealth system
in other words, 40th day is far superior in every way
its on my top ten favorite games of all time
