Oh delicious irony born of ignorance.
http://venturebeat.com/2011/05/25/how-many-ways-can-thqs-space-marine-game-rip-off-gears-of-war/

Basically this guy has gone out to say how much stuff Warhammer 40000 has "ripped off" from Gears of War, apparently unaware that 40K has been around longer, and that Relic has been making a conscious effort to differentiate the gameplay from Gears of War.

The comments section hasn't been very kind to the guy who wrote the article. So, if you're looking for a funny read, delve in.

Plus isnt the guy from Gears of War just a glorified spacemarine? And adding a chainsaw to anything is normally what gamesworkshop does. Chainsword, chainaxe, chainfist. So i guess waht im saying is does gears rip off or atleast take insperation from 40K

I'd like to point out that the entire Warhammer FRANCHISE was in existance for longer than Epic Games was in existance. Since before the original "Unreal". Warhammer is old.

If it was coherently written by someone with a grasp of English firmer than that of a ten year old, I would have suspected satire.

As it was, it was drivel written by someone who needs to pay more fucking attention at school.

Anyway its not like the whole "space marine" thing isn't original, looking back at Halo and Starcraft, this is far from ripping something off.

The comment section was priceless. With that quality of research it's hard to believe he's the lead writer of anything...

It's funny because Bender and Marcus Fenix have the same voice actor.

But yeah, silly article. Whole thing could've been avoided if they'd done just a little research into which came first.
They were probably too busy finding something dumb like, I dunno, finding out some guy voices two particular characters.

This guy is the sort of insufferable, ignorant idiot that really should not be allowed to write for a gaming website. Actually, he shouldn't be allowed to write at all. Cut his arms off.

Pft, so? Warhammer was never a third-person shooter before, what does it matter that the franchise has been around longer? I looked at a gameplay footage of it when it first came out and at first glance I thought it looked like some Gears footage, I swear it did. And, as the article pointed out, the fact that they were so quick to pick out the differences does tell you something about it.

Besides, any game that has "SPACE MARINE" clearly plastered on its title is doubtful of really delivering any surprises.

By all means, this game could be absolute gold as far as I know. Hell, I freely admit that I've never really gotten into the Warhamemr 40K series, never bothered to check it out. Still, from what I've seen, it doesn't really seem to pull any surprises.
