As my gamer brain reaches middle age, memory fails me. Help a guy remember what some games were?

I'm about to celebrate (yay.) my 36th birthday, and I find myself slipping more intro retrogaming. I dug out old issues of PC Gamer recently to read reviews of stuff that came out Back In The Day. And recently, as I played through Fallout 1 and 2 and then 3, I found myself remembering snippets of old games, and not recalling what they were.

One, this one's more recent and probably easy, was it Quake IV where there was a level or two where you game out onto a platform like a helipad, and a drop ship came in and dropped off a 20-foot biomechanical thing for you to fight? I recall you were locked on this helipad by a barrier, either metal bars or electrical walls, running around surrounded by Space Crates, shooting this Big Miniboss. But after years of space FPS games, they all run together. What was this game, people?

Another one that has my brain whirling is a game I never played, but read about Back In The Day, I think it was back before Quake 1 when FPSs were just called Doom Clones. There was an action game, I believe an FPS, in which you played as a mercenary for some sort of giant megacorporation. I recall that the concept was that score was in money, and greed for minerals and resources ruled the game plot. The thing that always stuck in my memory reading the reviews of this game was that the player could find a powerup that camouflaged the as a TREE. Anything ring a bell on this one?

Thanks. Enjoy the trivial brain spinning!
