Hey friends! We released Ashes: Escalation this week and I've been going around and seeing if anyone has had a chance to play and has any impressions yet. :)

Haven't heard of that expansion, but you can recommend it for the Twitch stream by scrolling down their Twitch page and joining the Discord group.

Here are my impressions:

The base game already has 5 DLC mission packs, and has only more recently reached a point where its more stable than buggy....and now an expansion that matches the original full price comes out. One which is still in debate as to whether it should have been a patch to the existing game.

Totally haven't seen stuff like this on steam before. The 'barely out and barely functional' game getting a full price expansion which is essentially a working 2.0 version of the game. Not at alllllllll.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Well it looks good on the page but I haven't picked it up yet. can you tell me if it has a real campaign? I heard the original release didn't.

I know it's supposed to be but frankly this doesn't surprise me. A while back the front page ran a series of articles about the game that felt like a glorified ad campaign. Maybe I was the only one who saw it that way, but there a lot of other games that weren't getting the same treatment or coverage that made the whole thing smack of favoritism.

You mean the articles that were written by the developer (Brad Wardell) and clearly labeled as such? Whether that's something people like to see on The Escapist is of course up for debate, but at least they weren't underhanded about it.

As for developers talking about their games on the forums, I would be cool with more of them doing it. As long as it wasn't just shilling for funding, that is. And obviously they were clearly identified, as the OP is.
