Hi All,

The "Ask a ....." threads were great. Not seen one in a while though, so I thought I would start one. I don't think mine has been done before. I tried the search bar, nothing came up. Though, I don't know if I used it right.

So, been a doorman/bouncer for nearly five years. I do both pubs and night clubs, both on the door and inside. I have also done a little shop security.

Aside from that, I'm 29, doing a M.A. in Classics, in a (long distance) relationship, Irish and a gamer! Maybe a little infor on me will help with your questions.

So, if you ever wanted to ask a bouncer why they ruined your night, ask away!

No! Have I hit people, sure. But one or two digs and that was it, and they always hit me first. In Ireland, you have to have a license to be a bouncer, beating someone up is a fast track to jail. That said I have shoved guys, and been agressive to women who just would not cop the fuck on. Some people just will not respond to anything else.

Good question.

There are both the same, and diffrent. The pub is tough because you'll have people who are sober, but who you might not want to let in. They can argue their case better and may not be as easy to subdue if it comes to a row.

The night club is full of drunk people, who will be easier to subdue, but may be more agressive, and may hit me with a glass!

Ermmm....Dunno, depens what show you're talking about. I wanna be clear about one thing though, if TV makes it look cool then it is not like it, its is a shit job.

Yeah, it can be. Sometimes I can just about hold myself back, some people just will not listen to me, or get the fuck out of my face. I just have to be cool, most poeple are just there for a good time. Count to ten and remember that I'm hear to help poeple, not to knock them out.
