Okay, thought I'd retry this thread now that the other one has died.

Basically, feel free to ask me anything about the Christian faith - how it works, why we believe what we believe, technicalities of faith etc. Essentially, I'll explain to you from a Christian perspective. This is an attempt at an intelligent conversation between a Christian and a non-Christian to clear up different issues.

What I am not here for is to be abused or argued with, because I am presenting my faith - take it or leave it. If you don't have the respect and courtesy to be civil then I won't reply to your question. That said, the more challenging or surprising the question, the more of a pleasure this will be. Also, I won't take kindly to baiting questions eg. "why do you believe stupid stuff/why are you an idiot/why don't Christians stone homosexuals etc"

If you ask a question, then understand that what I have given you is what I believe and the Christian perspective. You may disagree, but the point of this thread isn't to argue over the validity of my faith, but to actually find out what Christians believe.

Similarly, please don't make this another prop 8/gay marriage related thread; we have numerous running at this time.

Essentially, you respect me and I respect you!

Lastly, my background:

I have a great interest in my faith and the theology of it to a point where I received a degree in it from a respected university.
I spend most of my time between Australia and England.
I am a reformed, evangelical, conservative Christian. (aka bible based)
I became a Christian at the age of 17, having been raised in a moralistic environment.
My passions are psychology, writing, literature, fashion modeling, aesthetic, industrial design, video games, art, fitness/health and my girlfriend.

Hello my fellow believer.

Do you, like I, believe that The Crusades were in truth a beautiful effort and a great face for Christianity despite what other non-believers think?
I'll reply to other Christians questions in PM to keep this fairly organised. :)

With this in mind, what's your opinion on the conflicting literal interpretation of the Genesis Universe starting story and scientific evidence such as Carbon Dating and the like?

Okay, so I get the whole anti-contraception thing, and the anti-gay thing, as they're written in the bible and it's the unchangeable word of god etc etc.

My question is thus. When my father goes to sell me as sanctioned by Exodus, what's a fair price to ask in this day and age?

I have to ask you why you say you were raised in a moralistic environment. I'm sure you don't believe that other religious denominations have no morals what so ever. So maybe you should have said in a christian moralistic environment, or left it out completely.

Any who I have a few questions.

Why do you have the crucifixion as a symbol for your religion?

Why do you metaphorically eat the body of Christ and drink his blood? (not being an idiot, I really want to know why.)

Also, why was the Jewish story of Lilith, Adam's first wife according to the Jewish people, left out of the new creation story?

Can you prove god exists

(not meant to be flame bait, just want to see how a later in life convert sees it)
What kind of question is that? you know the answer already kitten!

Christianity is about having faith anyway.

Probably around $1.32. No one wants to buy a troll.

Personal question, then: What exposure have you had to PMD evangelical Christianity and what do you think of it?

Late teen/young adult female...well there's health records to consider, along with skin quality (how smooth it is), teeth (how white) and hair (How nice...I guess). Along with body build and mental capabilities.

(Note: I'm not asking for that information, just displaying that to give an accurate price, one would have to have access to that information. Wait, what do you mean slavery's illegal? When the hell did that happen?)

What is the current historical evidence for the existence of Jesus?

I've heard that he was not referenced by the historical writers of the time, certainly not to the extent a water walking, dead raising son of God should be.

Max, what's your thoughts on the cynicism aimed towards Christian people of today who just want to live a peaceful life respecting others?

Troll? And exactly where have I done that particular mortal sin? It's an honest question, aimed at bringing up the idea of interpretation of the bible itself, translations, mistranslations and just how true it is to the original text. Putting it in that manner is merely an attempt at humour, and I'm sorry if you can't see such things, they really are such a colourful part of life.

Bad Labyrinth. President Bartlett already answered that one.

Two questions.
First one, why is the Christian Sabbath on Sunday rather than Saturday? Why did they change it?

Second one, what happened to Jesus after he was ressurected? Did he vanish and we only have the word of those who saw his empty grave, did he appear before his disciples and make one last sermon and then vanish, did he ascend to heaven on a big shaft of light...? I have absolutely no idea.

Implying Christians deal in slavery is not trolling?

Some of the content of the bible are rules from a bygone society, a big indication of this is the fact we don't still sacrifice goats.

Seventh day of creation god rested, he said keep the sabbath day holy, so that's why it's Sunday.
