So a couple of weeks there was an "ask a pakistani" thread that was going on and I thought that it might not be half a bad idea to do one of those, except for Jews. I couldn't do it at the time because I was gonna go to Poland the next day (it's a long story). so if you have any questions, any at all, feel free to ask. Also, I'm giving free reign for any Jews to help answer questions, cause I may not be in for long (don's ask, it's not worth it).

[small]I don't see this ending well, but what the hey.[/small]

Do you really receive multiple days of gift giving during Hanukkah?

How does that work compared to Christmas?

That's all up to your family. There's no actual present giving in the original holiday, but some Jewish parents didn't want their kids to be jealous of the Christian kids, so they started giving gifts. It caught on.

have you ever sat on a chair being spun around and carried?
Yep. Happens at almost every big celebration.

The Jews sold Jesus out *wink*

Which day is actually your Sabbath day? Is it Friday or Saturday?

What is a Jewish stance on the New Testament?

Can Jews really only find partners through a "matchmaker"? That seems terribly... restricting.

Edit: Also, what's the deal with circumcision? Is it meant to represent your submission to God?

Are you a Zionist and do you approve of what Israel is doing in Gaza and the West Bank?

Also, do you practise Judaism or are you ethnically Jewish, or both?

Here's a question why do we Jewish men prefer to not date Jewish women?

Technically Hanukkah has nothing to do with presents, but it falls near Christmas so most American non Orthodox Jewish people give presents.
The multiple days things varies from family to family, I get all mine on the first night.
While Hanukkah is a very minor holiday in Jewish religon, Christmas is the biggest.

The sabbath begins at sundown on Friday and lasts till sundown Saturday, the Jewish calendar is Lunar so our days start when the sun sets
I can't say what the official policy is but it isn't part of our scripture and holy texts

about that, that comes from the fact that, aside from Judas being Jewish, there was something in the bible about some crowd of jews being willing to let some killer live over Jesus. But, it was in fact the romans who did the killing. The reason the jews are called the perpetrators is because the catholic church which was located in ROME didn't want to give the pope's city a bad name.

I'll gladly help you, mate.
As for the first question, I dont think anyone today knows for sure. The pope recently stated the Jews arent responsible for that, but even he is just doing guesswork to be honest. The story of Judea Ish-Kraiot betraying Jesus, well, its hardly enough to blame an entire people for that. what I can tell you, is that any one thing the Jews of that time have in common with modern Jews, is probably coincidental (even holidays are celebrated differently). 2000 years is a very long time for any religion to not change.

Where is the gold!?

Seriously, what's this idea that all Jewish people are supposed to spend their time tryin to return to the holy land.

Why,
how hard are they supposed to try,
where exactly is it,
and are you/your family planning to?

As I understand it, the Roman governor ordered the execution and Roman soldiers carried it out. The reason he did so was to appease the Jewish Sanhedrin, the ruling body of Jewish priests who felt that Jesus was a threat to their power. The Jewish were living under Roman control but the priests still had a lot of sway over the people and could make life difficult for the occupying Roman forces, so the governor did favours to them to keep them happy. He was executed for blasphemy which was not a crime to the Romans as they did not believe in the Jewish god.

The New Testament is basically fan fiction.
