Considering The Escapist has thousands of members from various countries, I'm starting this thread so you can ask someone from another country about somthing in their country.

I'll start: Are there really spiders in Australia that sometimes hide under the toilet bowl rim?

I'll ask Goatzilla or Zeeky Santos next time they're on some sort of internet communication. They're in China right now.[/small]

I can answer this (half french). No. No we are not.

Has anyone in Russia ever been heard to use an 'In Soviet Russia...' joke, or were they started elsewhere.

According to the Chinese guy I used to live with, the stuff we get in Britain is nothing like what they eat in China. Pretty safe bet that the same applies to America and anywhere else.

Do people in France act as snobby as they do in the stereotypes?

Is australia really just the alabama of the south pacific

What i really meant was, are local calls really not free in the UK?
It depends on the first 2 numbers of the phone number. 01 is the cheapest, 09 is the most expensive. 08 is average for a TV phone-in and 01 is usually a residential number or local business.

I heard they're still legal tender, just a lot of people don't know it. Either way, my friends in America and I gave her a mission to get me one.

Yes, my Aunt actually gave me one as a kid. But a lot of Americans don't realize they exist, I've heard horror stories about people actually getting arrested for trying to buy a taco or something with a $2 bill.

And a question, to residents of Mexico, how psyched were you when your country got its first Taco Bell a couple years ago, and you were finally able to get genuine Mexican cusine?

My freind works for a flight service up here and after hefting hundreds of pounds worth of bags into the bush-plane he got tipped a chocolate bar. So... make of that what you will.

Yeah we do. I get them every now and then at work, and I have about ten of them sitting on my dresser.

No, but it is only a little more than 50 miles from Russia to Alaska at one point.
