Now im guessing most of you have seen this (awesome) [url:http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14302493/assassins-creed-2/videos/assassinscreed2_trl_e3_052909.html]trailer[/url].

Obviously you see the guns appearance, i heard that they were adding something like that, and i said how much that would ruin gameplay, all assassinations will just be, breaking gameplay like throwing glass off a cliff, get to a roof, aim and fire, oh the fun. BUT i think they got it right, by looking at the trailer of course.

Now its a trailer sure, and probably like you, remembered the Assassins Creed trailer, he used a crossbow, but you could never use it in the game, but in this trailer, it seemed a little more...important and almost as if it was underlined with the place it was used, but of course im just hoping that its balanced and not a god-ed out weapon.

Now i was quite a lover of Assassins Creed, the story was complex and interesting, the gameplay was new and interesting and it all rounded to something challenge and fun, through all its faults, it was a new and brilliant game.

At the end it was a huge cliff hanger, not to mention with "the bleeding effect" and other side plots, so obviously, im guessing the story is also going to be awesome.

It does not have guns.
The Assassin (can't remember how to spell his name)launches propelled blades from some sort of mechanised sling attached to his gauntlet.
How do you explain the loud BANG in the trailer then? Since when does a "mechanised sling" use gunpowder?

BTW the assassin's name is Ezio I think

There's no way he could have actual guns it's set in Renaissance Italy for frecks sake firearms weren't exactly what you could class as stealthy, or practical for that matter, they where more likely to blow your hand off than blow a hole in the person you were aiming at.

You can use a halberd. Stealth is not an issue. Plus its a one shot thing for desperate circumstances, something on your wrist would be very difficult to reload

Ezio clearly fires a pistol in the trailer. Theres a bang, and you can see it attached to his wrist.

If you look at the teaser trailer, it showed Da Vinci's "prototype" technology that could have included a gun-like mechanism. If it shoots a projectile with gunpowder and you can hold it with one or 2 hands (or attached to his arm in this manner), it's a gun in my book.

So it wasn't practical when he shot the guy at a distance rather than having to get ambushed by 4 guards?

Ezio Auditore de Firenze I believe. (and without googling, yay).

It will probably be unplayable. There was a crossbow on Altairs back in number one that was unuseable. Also, if it is usuable, then Ubisoft will make it very inaccurate and noisy to alert guards.

There actually were assassins that tried to kill the Medici family using guns. So if anything they are quoting from history.

Not sure if they hand guns back then but they definitely had a very primitive rifle.

If there is a gun, you can't just go on a roof and shoot people. It will be loud, crude and will have a really short range (as you saw in the trailer, there was somewhere around 4-5 m between Ezio and his victim). Though, it would be really cool.

In the screenshot, it's pretty clear it's a pistol.

I would like to note that during the Renaissance period, guns evolved from Matchlock to Wheellock towards Flintlock.
A wheellock PISTOL (They existed) would be something akin to a cigarette lighter (save, bigger) The technology is completely plausible for that time period.

Second, I think the biggest advantage of having a gun would be to scare off crowds in some circumstances. As well as that medium range assassination showed in the trailer.

(Too Long; Didn't Read Version)
Pistols existed back then.

Pistols would be a fun gameplay mechanic.

I agree with you completely, thats a good quality first post you have there!

Nice to see a user that hasn't been spawned from the depths of 4chan for once.

Welcome to the escapist :)

Guns took a very long time to reload back then and I imagine using it will bring all kinds of hell down upon you, so it's probably a weapon of last resort, a literal ace up your sleeve.

The pistols then were terrible (but cool) you'd probably have more range with your wrist-blade.

As long as it doesn't contain another 'cliffhanger', I'm pretty much happy with everything.
