Assassin's Creed 2 for PC Delayed Until 2010

Assassin's Creed 2 [http://www.ubi.com] has been pushed back into 2010.

2010 is starting to look like the lineup in the grocery store that you're not standing in. Your line was long and crowded when you first wheeled up with your cart full of food but then another register opened and someone went over to it, and then someone else, and then a couple more people, and suddenly there's a huge stampede of shoppers charging over to that lane because they think it's less crowded and moving faster, so they can get through quick and be on their way.

And who's the latest S-Mart shopper to pop over to the other line? Why, it's Ubisoft, which announced this morning that the PC version of Assassin's Creed 2 would be delayed to the first quarter of 2010. "Assassin's Creed 2 PC has moved to the first quarter of 2010," the company wrote on its Twitter blog [http://twitter.com/Ubisoft/statuses/4339003186]. "A bit more time for the dev team to deliver the best quality game to you."

No word on what specific quality issues are at play here, nor why it would affect only the PC edition and not the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 releases. Unless, of course, "delivering the best quality game" means, "We think the PC release is going to be pirated to Hell and back and we don't want that messing with our console revenues, so see y'all next year." But hey, that's probably just crazy talk. Right?

Damn all those Swash-bucklers with Laptops!!

I would be annoyed, but I got Assasin's Creed One (Or Source, depending on how much Steam you use) on PC, and also played it on PS3 and xbox, n I much prefered it on the Consoles.

Fine by me! I'll be getting it for my 360!
It just screams 'console game' anyways.

Slightly more on topic: They are probably right about it being pirated to hell and back. They should use this time to implement an 'Arkham Asylum' style copy protection where instead of a sword, you pull out a big loaf of bread or something...and then you die. That's be sweet, though exactly how sweet would depend on the bread (C'mon cinnamon bread!).

I'm covered since I have a Ps3.
Hopefully it will be worth the wait for PC players since Ubisoft said they'll improve the graphics.

I've played both the PC and the 360 versions of Assassin's Creed and I have to say the controls felt so much smoother on the 360. The PC felt - to me anyway - incredibly clunky. I'll be picking up AC2 for the 360 so as to avoid control issues.

/Thus, thankfully, non-issue for me.
//Pirates exist on consoles too.
///Keep dropping prices on them and more pirates will pop up. Guaranteed.

Now now, I always wanted to dual-wield french baguettes.

I sure hope that time is used for fixing the controls to not suck donkeyballs like in Assassin's Creed 1.
Or, they could just swim around in money in those months in between the X360/PS3 release and the PC release, and then realize the last day before release that they haven't lifted a finger.

...I'm thinking number two.

I fail to see the big deal honestly, delays happen, and the variable hardware on PCs make them a bigger chore. They probably found out there were hardware issues with some commonly used video or sound cards or whatever and are either fixing it from their end, or waiting to release after a driver update that will hopefully solve the problem.

Part of it also might be payback from when the situation between PC and Console gamers was reversed as well. :p

That said, I'm becoming jaded when the first thing that came to mind when I sat that AC picture was that Altair was pinning a guy to forcibly sodomize him before I really looked at it.

Of course maybe it's one of those old renaissance pictures with a dual meaning, and it's supposed to be that way to an initial viewer, and only changes as you take in more details. Altair being the console favoring gaming establishment with a grudge, and the pinned swashbuckler guy being the terrified PC users finally experiencing payback for their years of alleged "oppression".

Maybe we should send this one to Dan Brown and see what he thinks, maybe gaming wars dated back to the time of The Templar or something and this is simply a continuation of secret messages that will like also lead us to uncovering the ultimate gaming treasure: Polybius.

It would be best if they'd just be honest. I mean this "We want to ensure we give you the best quality possible" line is pretty pathetic. At least it's a better excuse than the Force Unleashed's line of how they didn't think PCs were good enough to play it.

It's like the Japs saying that all their whaling is for scientific research; everyone knows it's complete bullshit but that doesn't stop them from trying to sell it.

That sucks.... for PC owners. Luckily I do not own a PC, so this doesn't effect me at all. I'll be picking this game up for my 360. I remember trying the first one on my friends PC and the controls felt weird.

Yeah, I thought the picture was strange too at first, Eizo was harassing the poor man. :)

On topic, It sucks to be delayed, but actually this is the default behavior towards the pc, so nothing to be surprised about. A prefer the pc due to higher resolutions and generally better graphics and I play certain games like AC with a gamepad so no control issues.

Except that that wasn't copy protection but rocksteady who needed to fire the their QA department and being an ass to the people doing their work for them and preventing them from an embarrassing failure at launch.

Also, who doesn't anybody realize that this is a good way to increase piracy? They'll release it at full price when it's an old game and nobody will pay for something that everybody else already has.

I hoped they wouldn't do this, but I'm not surprised. Just another release that screws over PC gamers and accuses us all of being pirates.

Well, fuck you too Ubisoft!

So... from a selection of around 6 games that were planned for the end of the year I can only play 1. Then infinity wards will suddenly catch fire and MW2 will be cancelled.
