Recently, me and some friends were musing on the Screed franchise and have reached a conundrum: when desmond is finally allowed to go outside, how will the game work? You will no longer be aable to desyncronise so they'll either have to do it from Diles Mesmond Jr, or have you actually die.
Following this, how useful will a knife strapped to your arm be if the enemy has a rifle? as far as i can tell their are 3 possibilities for the future of the franchise;

1. the game becomes like splinter cell; a stealth oreintated in this case 3rd person shooter in which you attempt to break into an enemy stronghol and attempt to eliminate everyone within using a combination of acrobatics and silenced weaponry (in this case a silenced hidden-pistol)

2. A sniper game, in which you use your acrobatics to find a perfect vantage point from which to deliver retribution, before using your hidden blade to escape from the guards

3. Metal Gear Solid

Failing this, my personal hope is that the series becomes 4 games long, because this would lead to the 3rd being set in, wait for it, eighteenth century western Europe. Imagine it; there are guns, but they aren't very good. Industrial Britain. The French Revolution, and the Terror that followed it. Maybe Jacque Miles was a revolutionary, maybe he was the one behind it. Following this is the Industrial Revolution, the revolutions of 1832 and 1848 in which half of Europe strove for unification and freedom from their tyrannical Monarchy.

This may have gone on longer than i planned, and lost it's point towards the end, but any comments, opinions and new is welcome, as ever.

I like you're idea, but I think they pretty much confirmed the next one will be in WWI...with a girl protagonist.

I don't like that, because my idea of the animus has always been that there is a gene in the Y-chromosome, but no longer can this be true. They may change it though, of course.

Actually they confirmed that the next game (may not be called #3 though) will once again follow Ezio and that the WW2 idea was decided to be impractical.

The third is still set in Italy, and it's still following Ezio. At least, so I've heard.

world war 1... with a girl... what is wrong with ubisoft, it's not just trying to show itself as non-racist but also non-sexist. We know that already, a girl is better than you in screed 2... on the other hand, early 20th century europe had a lot of tyrannical prats, so i suppose that is a good a choice as any... i like the idea that Hitler was a Templar (as we know from The Truth), but now it may be an assassin that kills him... that's more baddass than jesus!

on the other hand, i feel as if they have suddenly decided that the Doctor needs a gender swap, it may be a good idea, but it just feels... wrong...

That's not Assassins Creed 3, it's just a spin off of 2.

I don't think it will be as interesting of a game without the quasi-historical aspects and centuries old conspiracy theories. If some bizarre plot element has to develop to get him in an Animus one more time, in whatever earlier era (preferably pre-20th century, for sure), so be it. Maybe it'll feature both modern and historical in the same manner as AC2 did...that wouldn't be too bad, if its handled right.

That's where the draw to me in the game is at. Turning it into another stealthy action game reliant on modern military hardware (or whatever) does not really appeal to me...

Let's just call it AC2.5 and leave it to that. They do have an official name for it I think, something like Assassin's Creed episodes or whatnot.

I heard that too, but I think that is a spin-off with a multiplayer mode, not actually Assassin's Creed 3.

OT: I'm still under the impression that AC3 will let you play as Desmond in modern day cities. However, the OP does bring up some interesting points as to how that would work. Regardless of the setting, so long as I'm still able to stab unaware guards in badass ways, I'll be happy.

dont worry, that's not the truth, it's just my opinion something you read during one of the puzzles, it mentions a guy named "H" it's just my theory that it's him... mostly cos templars are [insert overly rude word here] like hitler...

They're going to milk the series, by the sounds of it. To quote Yahztee: "Was the training in the first game not sufficient enough?"

I love the series and all, but Abstergo has already forced them to run away. Twice. Thus proving that hiding won't do much good and according to that annoying prat (whom I've conveniently forgotten the name of) they don't exactly have a lot of time left.
