At this point, handhelds or consoles?

Both offer different experiences. Handhelds offer more arcade like games, platformers and Japanese RPG's. While consoles have better Graphics/Sound/Picture, bigger worlds, and more cinematic, big budget, blockbuster games. Since I'm not the biggest fan of overly realistic, Hollywood-esque games (Though there are several I enjoy like Uncharted), I choose handhelds personally. I always liked the arcade like nature of a lot of handheld titles. Plus, they're basically the only place to get a good JRPG anymore (Though there is X, FF15, & KH3 comming).

I've got one game for my 3DS that I regret purchasing

I have (or have played) at least a hundred different games for my 360/PS3.

Now in my 3DS's defense, I'm sure there are other games for it that I would greatly enjoy. I just haven't done the research nor do I have the funds to get them once they're found. Either way, give me my 360 or PS3 over my 3DS any day. If for any other reason than the 3DS gives me freaking hand cramps. Who designed this thing?!!?

Well I like both. I'm a big fan of JRPGs and SRPGs so Handhelds are great. But I'm also a fan of Western RPGs, Shooters, Sandbox games etc so I quite like consoles. And I'm also a fan of RTS and TBS games so I like PCs as well. Basically I like em all.

Same for me. Although I tend to go more with consoles than handhelds and I've got at least 200 console games with cases on my shelf. (need a new shelf because if they fall it will hurt)
Meanwhile, I only have a few handheld games really.

Consoles for me, although I've had a great time in the past with the 3ds life and sometimes with my ps vita. Speaking in terms of the vita, the feel in my hands for most games is awkward and the games themselves lack the inginuity the titles I lived on the 3ds offered to dive me to play the handheld at home instead of my then ps2 and 360. Also, the price for the memory card for vita is ridiculous and so is the price of the games used. If they weld the games at 33% retail cost as a download I would rather do that's. As is, I just can't get into games like dragons crown or Killzone mercenary when I can have a better experience on the console.

I'm much more of a handheld gamer than I am a console gamer. With my 3DS, Vita, and iPod Touch, I would guess about 90% of the gaming I do now is on a handheld device.

My consoles are mostly used for like the occasional party game and Netflix and that's really about it.

I'm honestly not sure if I'm going to buy any of the current gen systems at this point since I just do so much handheld gaming.

I'm a console person because handhelds make me dizzy unfortunately.
I am also very attracted to arcade type games, but sometimes the "Hollywood" games are cool - Arkham City, or even Uncharted 2.
I think consoles need to step up in terms of replay value, immersion, relationship of story to gameplay, and so on.

Ever since the DS and PSP came out, I've found myself playing handhelds far more than I used to. Now I own DS Lites, DSi XL, PSPs, a smartphone, a 3DS XL, and I'm planning on getting a Vita. I think the reason I'm so into them is because the technology really got good. Backlit screens with reasonable resolutions, the capability to render 3D polygonal games, and the quirkiness that a touch screen can offer. That stuff combined with some of my favorite genres, visual novels / adventure games, SRPGs / JRPGs all being far more prevalent on handhelds was the final clincher. Let's not forget the convenience factor! When I have to travel for work or visit in-laws, I can bring my handheld games with me easily. And nothing beats curling up in bed with a great JRPG in the palms of your hands.

All of that said, for those who care about large screens and amazing graphics, obviously consoles are where it's at for that. There's no comparing a AAA modern console game versus a AAA handheld game in that regard. Even the Vita isn't going to match what the PS4 can produce. So if you're really into eye candy, I can understand if you're more into consoles than handhelds. Well, that and if you're into online FPS stuff.

One thing I always buy for my handhelds are grips. For the 3DS series, I highly recommend these:

3DS [http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Comfort-Grip-Transparent-Black/dp/B004LQRENK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386900777&sr=8-1&keywords=3ds+dreamgear] | 3DS XL [http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386900771&sr=8-1&keywords=3ds+xl+dreamgear]

The one for the 3DS XL made holding it night and day for me.

Both provide me with great games, they have different things to offer. I would say as far as 2013 is concerned, the 3DS would be my system of the year. As the amount of great new games for it, along with how much I played it is greater than any other system for this year.

I have gotten my moneys worth out of pokemon on the 3DS, but I would never buy any other game for it. It is just basically a pokemon machine. So definitely consoles (aka PC) for me.

I've personal been more of a console scrub with handhelds being a bit too easy to put down, but I'm rectifying that with a vita this Christmas (don't look at me like that, they're out of PS4's here and I wanted something for Christmas. Plus the remote play with the PS4 sounds nifty, even if it boils down to, my family wanted to use the TV but I didn't want to stop playing).

I prefer consoles just because I spend a lot more time at my house playing games then I do when I'm going out. The only time I tend to play games on a hand held device is when I am on break at work and even then I have gotten distracted by the game and almost been late getting back to my job.

I choose.. transformer! They're like a console at one point, then a handheld the next... It's like a bootleg Wii U, only with a better battery life... and no touchscreen...

But honestly, I don't know... Does Nintendo count as an option at this point? Unless you're Kingdom Hearts, an HD Collection, any Tales game, or Rayman in general, you're probably on Nintendo, in my eyes... (Take that as you will...)

Assuming consoles includes PCs here? Yeah, still consoles. I'm getting quite a bit of play out of my Vita, but the hundred games I have on Steam dwarfs the dozen or so I have on the Vita.

If we aren't talking about PCs, then handhelds. Because I only really use my PS3 for sports games and GTA V at this point.

But in all seriousness, I prefer consoles over handhelds. The portability is really nice but I feel like I would strain my eyes a lot due to poor light. Consoles are more comfortable to play on. As for games, I personally feel that a consoles have a much larger library for games. From what I hear there are only a few games worth playing on both the vita and 3ds (This is what I'm told and don't really know it myself for a fact).

Consoles. I equate handhelds to cell phones. It might be brutish to do so but that's adorable me.

I've been playing a mix of Vita, PS3 and PC recently. I have been playing a lot more handheld titles recently, but that's solely due to the fact that my Vita is my first handheld device I've owned since I broke my PSP 5 or 6 years ago.

Honestly the platform I play on doesn't really matter that much to me, I care more about the quality of the game. All three of the platforms I play on have games I'm interested in so I'll continue to play all three.

I do intend to pick up a 3DS sometime soon too.

I like both.

That said, now that I don't have a daily commute I don't use handhelds very often (I don't have a 3DS, but I have a DS and a Vita), so I really only use them when I'm travelling, so if it's a question of which I use more often, the answer is consoles.

I've never really been drawn to handhelds, some of my friends own them but personally I think I'll stick with consoles, they have the games I like.

I probably play on my handhelds more than my consoles, I often take me Vita with me when I am stuck either in hospital or going to be waiting around during outpatient visits and I am not a fan of mobile games all that much (apart from exceptions, bubblecrush and its ilk could DIAF for all I care). I play it in bed when I cannot be bothered to get out of bed on occasion too.

Generally though console or handheld gaming is only tiny fraction of the gaming I do as I use my PC a hell of a lot more.
