Every person wants something. For some, it's knowledge. For some, power, fame, or wealth. For some it's love, or world peace.
Here is a Stranger from shadowy places, who trades in desire, who auctions your dreams. It is willing to fulfill them, within the realm of stretchable reason, if you are willing to pay its price.

Please tell the stranger now: what is your greatest desire, and what is the very highest price you would be willing to pay to get it?
The Stranger can not make you omnipotent or omniscient, nor can it give you equivalent power. It trades in dreams, not in godhood. But it can easily make you functionally immortal. It can make you king of the world, or give you the secret of cold nuclear fusion and faster than light travel. It can arrange for you to meet your true soulmate. It can even give you superpowers, though not anything planet crushing.

The Stranger will receive any payment, so long as it is truly the highest payment you are willing to part with.

Which and how many of your bodyparts are you willing to give?
Who and how many people are you willing to sacrifice?
How many and which unbreakable, eternal vows are you willing to take upon yourself?
How many and which aspects of your lifestyle and personality are you willing to give up forever?

Needless to say, you can not use the dream you bought from the Stranger in order to get back the price you have payed. That would be cheating.

.................................................

Or if you are not as dramatically minded: in this thread, simply right the very highest price you are willing to pay to achieve your dreams.

Be honest with us, and have a nice day.

I think I would give at least one of my legs to be a successful writer.

Buuuuuuuuuut not yet. I'm 16. I have a lot of time to, you know, write. If I get to age 50 and still haven't finished a book, then I would.

Nice thread by the way, it's good to actually consider what your greatest desires mean to you in terms of value.

I'd give both my legs to be a radio DJ. No, seriously. It's what I've wanted since I was a tiny girl, and I would do ANYTHING to accomplish it.

I never quite got the concept of "dreams". It seems to me that most people's dreams are things that society has told them to desire. Have a good job, or get an epic house/car/thing, be powerful, be famous. None of it means anything.

People were content to just live for millions of years. Sometimes I wonder if all this shit we've built and surrounded ourselves with is meaningless.

Sometimes, I just want to live. We'll call that my dream: to live in a world where people stop trying to chase meaningless shit and just live.

Not sure what the price is. I've never been good at gauging such things.
