So having just gotten a 360 I have been buying a whole back catalogue of games. However living in NZ I have to deal with that most hated of fiends the "Australasian Tax", otherwise known as the "Fuck You" or "Because We Can" tax.
So I have been bargain hunting like mad and buying quite a few things second hand. ebay.com.au had quite a few nice deals.
However I just got told about one site that seems to be the cheapest yet, their regular price is like the other site I was usings clearance price. (Screw you mightyape!)
http://www.ozgameshop.com/
I just got Dark Souls Limited Edition for 50 AUD with their Stralya Day special of $5 off any order over $30. Was gonna get the regular version since it was 29.99 but I screwed around too long, it sold out and when it got restocked it was 59.50.
I am a little curious how reliable they are since they have FF 13-2 Limited Edition for $68 AUD preorder, ME3 60 AUD, Darkness 2 60 AUD, etc but hell, if they are legit then I am in love. Plus free shipping...

So folks, where do you get your games and do you know of any cheaper places? If so, please, for the love of my wallet (and my cat who neeeeeeds food) share!

Edit: If anyone is planning on using ozgameshop they currently have a deal for Australia day. It expires monday but you get $5 off a order over $30. Sign up for a account, add item, go to checkout and apply voucher, code "ozday2012"
Its one voucher per account but hell, nothing wrong with making more than one account right >.>

Steam is the best.

EB costs $90 - $100
JB HI FI cost $70 - $80

Thats for new releases and for games that never drop in price. I have found games for much cheaper around $50 -$60. It seems some games just start out cheap or drop in price quickly.

I haven't got a game from retail for awhile so I can't remeber where I get games for the cheapest.

Yeah go steam. Wish I had realised earlier that newly released games are 20 dollars cheaper on there! And the fucking sales! Getting a game for like a dollar that you would pay 20 dollars for in EB is amazing! Im sure ive made back the 1500 dollars I spent on my computer by now.

I live in Launceston though down in tassie so its either EB games or places that dont specilise in games like Myer and Birchalls if I want to buy retail. And those places other than EB have no idea how to fairly value games! You will see last years Call of Duty still on sale for 120 bucks!

Only use my xbox for multiplayer now.

Although Ill have to play ME 3 on it....fuck origin.

I buy alot of stuff on Steam and abit on Gamer's Gate, normally when they have deals.

I also buy some stuff via Play Asia.

For the most part, though, I buy things from Game, mainly because a friend of mine works there and I'm in Retail myself. I also tend to prefer to have games in my hand.

The place which offers said game at the cheapest price. It always changes. If I can be patient, the nzgameshop has insanely low prices. It's a pity it takes so damn long to get here but the shipping is free so how can I complain? The mightyape is pretty good too.

Huh, that place has the exact same set up as ozgameshop so clearly is the same company. Which btw I see is actually based in the UK hence why shipping takes so long.
You may however want to compare ozgameshop to nzgameshop especially during different holidays as I just got Dark Souls for cheaper than its listed on nzgameshop.

As for Mightyape, I liked them until I saw that their bargain bin prices are these guys regular prices.
Plus they charge shipping.

I figured that out too, which made me a little suspicious. But then the Space Marine:Collector's Edition came in good condition which dismissed all suspicions.

Yeah your DS story is why I choose whatever is cheaper. Mightyape is good for other stuff too, I bought the Bob box set from theme and a new pair of earphones.

Most games I buy are ones from years passed, so I get them from eBay mostly. Games that I do happen to buy that are recently released, I get from EB games, though these are pretty rare for me so I don't spend too much money.

Mostly Steam, but EB Games (locally) and Mighty Ape (on the internet) have both worked wonders for me. Occasionally, Ozgameshop and Amazon.co.uk have sent me packages as well.

Ozgameshop. I get two games for $60, where as just one of them costs $89 in store. Yeah, screw you retailers. Ozgameshop is awesome, and I'm getting discounts for having bought so many games off them.

Usually Steam, but I do get sometimes get stuff from EB and JB when sales are on. Hell, I found a boxed copy of Planescape Torment at EB a while back. I'm thinking of going the Ozgameshop route, though.

EB Games and JB Hi-Fi. I know that I can get games cheaper online, but I do not like waiting for games to arrive in the post. If I wanna play a game, I wanna play it now. Not in 3 days, not in 1 week. Now.

I'd use Steam, but their 360 selection is severely lacking. I prefer GAME.

EDIT: Also eBay, on occasion. I just got KOTOR 2 for $80.
