So we seen Avatar the Last Air Bender and The Legend of Korra. From the last Air Bender we see that there is a cycle on who the next avatar will be as we learned from the story of Avatar Roku in the Last Airbender series. So the question is, will there be two more series wrapped around the different nations? Airbender was Aang, Korra was Waterbender, now we just need the Earthbender and Firebender each revolving around a different era in humanity. Like how korra was more set around the industrial revolution

It would be cool, but I doubt it given Nickelodeon's treatment of LoK. Maybe sometime in some other medium, like a comic.

Or we could see an animated movie instead of revolving around two other independent series

That would also be cool, but that's up to Nick to fund it and they've already tried to make one Avatar movie to spectacular disaster.[footnote]their fault of course.[/footnote]

Creators Mike and Bryan said this fall that after Legend of Korra they're done with the franchise and will move on to other things, of course that's what they said last time after Avatar: The Last Airbender was over, but I think this time it's different as with Legend of Korra Nickelodeon did their best to screw with the show as often as possible, and Legend of Korra was often percieved as a restoration of the franchise after M. Night Shyamalamadingdong peed all over it with his Last Airbender movie

In an interview with Bryke (the show's creators) just after Book 4 of Korra started, they said that after Korra finishes, the series is pretty much over. There are going to be some more Aang comics coming (there is one coming out in September of next year) and there is a possibility of a Korra comic too, but unless Nick changes its mind or sells the rights, it is very unlikely that Avatar will ever continue in TV form as Nick basically made it their life's work to make sure that Korra flopped as they released it early, forgot to advertise it, and then took it off the air all together due to "poor view numbers".

With that being said though, the studio behind animating Korra (Studio Mir) signed a deal with Dreamworks recently to create 4 new shows with 78 episodes each in a 4 year contract, so they are tied up for a while at least. Bryke are probably working on their new show too.

I am sad to see Avatar go, but maybe, just maybe, there will be another series in the future. And hopefully M Night Shyamalan stays the fuck away from it.

Hope we get some Korra comics in the future, but I'm not expecting any more animation work anymore. Sad it's over, but it's been a hell of a ride.

Nickelodeon aren't very fond of the series unfortunately, so I'd expect it to languish for a while before it might possibly be sold off to someone else with more interest in the franchise.

Alternatively there could be a gritty reboot using 3D instead of 2D art in a year or two, those seem pretty popular.

Yeah I really want to see a 100 time skip where there will be an earth bending avatar dealing with the new earth republic and perhaps more spirit stuff

It would be nice to see the world in a somewhat modern setting

Well, outside of comics, a new Avatar-based series is kinda out of the question unless Nick wants to pull a Spongbob or something... Honestly, even if they did, the only two settings I could see it taking place it, in comparison to our timeline, is the "21st Century" (with cellphones, computers, and whatever modern technology the east currently have overall) and THE FUTURE® (which is all sci-fi and shit, I guess), but then again, I'm only assuming each series is a decent time-skip between Avatar reincarnations, which is between 80-110 years, I think...

Other than that, despite feeling sad that there may not be another Avatar series in the form of an animated series, if all those that worked on both the Aang/Korra series respectively are not up for going for Round 3, let alone 4 (to complete the in-canon Avatar cycle), then I respect their decision to do just that... Also, I may still hate Nick for what they did, I can't blame them for EVERYTHING bad about either series' mis/shortcommings in general...

Unlikely as the creators have said that'd wnat to move onto something else entirely. Could be picked up by a third party, but I highly doubt it. As alright as it was, it wasn't exactly Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones-esc in viewership ratings.

I highly doubt that they will continue the franchise given to Nick treatment over Korra (taking it off air eventhought it wasn't finish and cut the team budgets).
I suppose the closest we will get to seeing two more Avatar series of a character from a Earth and Fire background is either some fanfic/ fan comic or maybe somebody in the comic industry will make a graphic novel on the franchise.

Example-

FYI, I haven't watched the whole thing as I couldn't get pass the first few seconds due to the guy voice.

Honestly, I don't really want to see another series. LoK pretty much screwed the pooch in terms of future series by setting it in what basically amounts to the early 1900s, a modern era series would just be downright stupid at that point. Plus I'd rather not deal with another series as inconsistent as LoK.
Agreed. Setting a new series any further into the future would just feel stupid and out of place. I don't think there's much left for the franchise to go to, not at least in moving forward in time. Korra could have comics sequels like TLA, but aside from that I really don't see a whole new series. They could always rewind the clock and set a new series like 5000 years in the past, but it would kind of break the sequence the franchise has established.

I could see whole miniseries coming out of the franchise though. Maybe one about Zuko's search for the Avatar. Maybe about Varrick's rise to power. Maybe flesh out what life in Republic City was like back in Aang's day (we still don't know if Sokka had kids). You could make one about Iroh's (TLA's Iroh that is) travels around the world and into the Spirit Realm.

Who knows, maybe there will be a more current, present time, avatar revolved around a earth bender. Skip a few generations, the three portals become pieces of government property due to a call to public safety but having an alternate motive. The avatar no longer permitted to go near or even attempt to enter the spirit world due to a previous avatar incident. Spirits and humans, though sharing the world, have some sort of grudge to one another, but some only a few humans and spirits forming a partnership.

I agree with the others about just leaving it be. Despite my problems with Korra, it was overall a competent series (one that I may need to watch the second half of again, but my opinion of those two seasons have deteriorated over time as I think about them).

Together, both series make a nice world, with some interesting lore and ideas. There's enough stuff that you can form some interesting ideas of your own about how some things went in the past, and how the future could go. Problem is that like Korra, it will feel unnecessary. They could probably make it competent, but if it's like Korra, it may be more of a series that would be they have some ideas of what they want to do, but the execution would be off. There isn't really anything that needs to be answered at this point, and just making another one, whether in the future or the past, could potentially make things worse with the fans.

As with things I like, while sad for a bit, it's good to let it go. Having it stretched out only means bad things. This is what happened to some things I like.
