I agree entirely with you there friend.

I thought it was nothing special and I could have quite easily better spent my time.

I like avatars. They make you stand out and they're a great way to show people who you are. But I don't see why it's so important for you to find someone who agrees with you?

No, you're not. If you spend more than 10 minutes online then you'd know that. It was just okay, and everyone that says it's the worst movie ever or it's the best movie ever need to step back.

I've yet to see it, and have no intention to ever see it.

So I can only say "yes" without actually having a solid reason other than it looked like a terribad movie with large Smurfs who were deemed "sexy" by nerds even nerdier than myself.

Oh, and when I'm looking for social commentary, I'm TOTALLY looking at James "I've-not-made-a-particularly-awesome-movie-since-The-Abyss" Cameron to deliver it to me.

No you are not alone. I personally disagree with you, I think it's the best film I've seen since the original Star Wars trilogy, but there are plenty of people who don't like it or are indifferent to it.

It was okay. Lacking in story, very nice visuals and Pandora itself was pretty much a band-aid for any of Avatar's other flaws.

I wish there would be a rule against people saying they think they're the only ones who share "x"-opinion or "y"-problem.
You roughly have a 1/7 billion chance to be "the only one".

On topic: I didn't like Avatar that much.
It was entertaining but most illogical at times.

You are not alone. I rather hated it, I'm not saying it was the worst thing evAR but it certainly wasn't to my tastes.

Yes, it's story, characters, atmosphere are overrated, but watching it in 3D made me not give a damn...

Wow... you know pretty much everyone ever thinks that, right? I saw it on day one so the hype didn't get me yet so I really enjoyed it. But then everyone started talking about how it was the greatest movie they had ever seen in their entire lives and then I started to think that it might be getting to be a little overrated. It was still fun to watch and had insanely beautiful scenery, but other than that it was a pretty shallow overused plot with shiny graphics. Still enjoyable, but didn't deserve best picture.

I know this has nothing to do with Avatar (well, kinda...) but I just wanted to start a bit of extra discussion... the Hurt Locker was another movie that people talked about being overrated. I went to go see it in theaters right when it came out and I knew nothing about it. I loved it and predicted that it would be Best Picture... but then it won and everyone started talking about how it was overrated. I wish everyone could have had the same experience I had, but it just goes to show you that hype kills.

I had a angry rant thread about what I thought of avatar back when it was released, I didn't like it either.
