Hi all! It's my first post here, but I hope that I've built up some forum cred already by contributing an article to last week's magazine (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_187/5715-A-Multi-Player-Family). But now, I'd like to share a small game that I made and see what smart people think of it.

http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~e11/azure.html

Azure might be fairly called an "art game". It's designed to offer a short, relaxing gameplay experience rather than the classic fiero-based feeling of fun. I'd love to hear what other people think of it. Did you "get it"? Does it work for you?

The game was made with XNA, so to play you'll have to install the framework, which is linked on the game's page. My apologies.

Granted, it's sort of borderline when an indy asks, isn't it?

I'm not really sure that it relaxed me. Just forcing me to go slower wasn't really relaxing, it was almost frustrating in a way. Maybe it's just the twitchy shoot-em-up style of most games that I'm used to, or maybe that I'm used to doing everything (work, class stuff, etc) as fast as I can, but knowing what needed to be done and not being able to just do it as quickly and efficiently as possible was a little annoying. Good find, though.

Oh, and welcome to The Escapist!

I believe the mods don't mind if you're advertising your own blog or anything indy so I think he's okay. It's not like he's asking you to check out his review on gamespot or something.

That said the game looks unique and cool but I'm unfortunately unwilling to download anything on my computer because it's in a state of near constant freezing and I have no intention of trying to add things to it.

Look again ;)

I only know because I got wrist slapped for it once. It wasn't even my blog itself so much as a specific article I wrote I wanted to talk about.

Well, I gotta say, no, not really...just kinda frustrated me to tell the truth...Couldn't get anywhere, very simplistic, but not great. Interesting concept though.....

Ah, I had just taken a glance at that rule. I've seen a few people post their own blog in response to threads but I guess that's just as a way of saving time in order to not have to re-post the whole thing. I still think that's one of the things mods are more lenient on so long as it's indy, I think your just unlucky.

Re: advertising, I'm not selling it or anything. I'm a college student who made a weird game and, yes, I'm looking for some playtesters so that I can understand how to make it better.

For those of you that played: did you ever see the clouds? Also, keep talking; I'm listening.

Yes, I did. And then I thought I was done, so I skipped a few and the dots showed back up again. It didn't really "end" per se, so I just quit.
