I'm starting on this thread, because I found a baby thrush yesterday after school, on my walk home, and have been taking care of him/her since. Right now I've got him/her in a large box in my room, with and old jacket and shirt. There's a hot water bottle tucked under the shirt, and a lamp bent over the box to make sure s/he stays warm. I'm feeding him/her a mixture of hard-boiled egg yolk, with water and some sugar. S/he seems to be doing fine, gapes for me when I offer to feed him/her, can walk and flutter around a bit.

Anyways, while I wait for the woman from the bird rescue center to come pick him/her up, I've started this thread to share all our animal saving stories. Share 'em, Escapist!

(Also, if anyone can tell me how to include a picture in a comment, I'll love you and post a pic of him/her)

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to "save" baby animals such as birds. I don't know, it's something i read that said it won't be able to return to the wild and survive.

That's been proven to be false as the story is based on the fact kids don't know jacksh*t about looking after baby birds so parents say it to keep the kids from touching them.

OP: A human baby. Suck it.

I once saved a pigeon (that I named Dizzy) that flew against my window.

He was tagged, so I brought him to the owner.
You should have seen him walking around, since he could no longer fly...at that point.

A long time ago someone rang my doorbell and left a starved near to death, one day old, baby kitten at my doorstep.

Three baby birds, a puppy and four cats.

The birds were released, the puppy was named Lucky and adopted by the fire department and I own the cats.

In 2007, I saved a baby crow. For some reason, it was at my house's door. No one could even recognize what animal that was. We all thought it was some kind of pigeon. It was in danger of being eaten if no one brought it in even if I didn't want to save it, I had to bring it in because I did not want it to dye. The next day I had to hand feed it because it was too young to eat on its own. The strange thing I learned during this experience was that, crows actually care for possibly orphan crows, because when I wasn't feeding it, other adult crows were. Two even tried to make a nest on our tree, where I sometimes put the baby crow.
