Bad reviews about your own film/tv show?

Okay, so I was browsing IMDb earlier and scanned through the 'Family Guy' forums.
Seems a lot of people are beginning to hate on this show and it got me thinking of how I would react seeing such negative talk about something I have created.

If I was say, George Lucas and continuously heard the death threats broadcasted by people about my movies, I would probably take the hint and rethink what I'm doing.

Would you listen to your audience or find refuge in the insane amount of money your getting?

Let's see, if my success depends entirely on whether or not people like it, then logic dictates that I would attempt to please the audience. To a certain degree anyway, gotta remeber not to compromise your ideals of a good show.

I would go cry myself to sleep. I take criticism very badly...

After about a week of soul searching I would try and fix the problem and donate money to charity.

It's funny you should mention this 'cause this crosses my mind quite often, usually when listening to ungrateful ingrates whine. *glances at other Escapists*

Anyway considering the way my audience would phrase their "criticism", again I'm looking at you people my fellow Escapists, I'd be quite tempted to tell my audience where to stick it. And death threats would certainly NOT get me to change my creation to fit your twisted and warped interpretation of it.
But then again it's because of exactly this sorta shit that I don't dare share my creations with anyone.

If I was rich like George Lucas, I would consider what they say, then go back to sleep on my bed made of money.

If I was just me that put something out. I would take consider people's gripes.

I would however, wish people to leave actual criticism and not "This sucks!", or "Make it better."

To me, thats not fucking criticism, thats just people being jackasses.

Well, plenty of people enjoy Family Guy, including myself. It's one of the few quick shows on TV that can give me laughs, and it's subversive where the Simpsons used to be.

If it's a horrible show, then it wouldn't be going into it's 9th season. Has been going for a long ass time.

Some people like what they like, and some people don't, and other people are just idiots who don't know what they like and want to make everyone join them in their unceasing misery.
