Is there a Webcomic out there that you think is bad?

I think Ctrl-Alt-Del is bad. It's a very bland, very boring comic that uses walls of text to over explain jokes or spend far too much time introducing them. Yes, there's also the infamous B^Uckley face that seems to exist in almost every comic. The jokes themselves aren't even funny, and the main characters are either totally bland, or unlikeable smug idiots that somehow through some bullshit reason come out on top.

There also a lot of obvious, very cheap jokes. Jack Thompson, Macs, Paris Hilton, they're all in there. And the sudden injection of drama didn't help. "Oh. Now we're all serious. Now we're playing the game of LIFE. And you can't win." I have yet to laugh at this strip.

Another one would be Lil Formers. It's a Transformers webcomic that uses a pretty cool, very nicely drawn art style, but that's pretty much all it has going for it. It makes too many Transformer Culture in-jokes and terrible puns, as well as harping on about how good G1 was and how Michael Bay loves his explosions and rapes childhoods. The art is the only thing that kept me reading, since I liked the little re-tooling of old characters, but other than that it's just bad.

And now, I await being put on probation for having an Inflammatory Thread...

There are quite a few.
I don't want to keep you here all day though, so I'll just give you the really popular ones that are terrible, and deserve to be taken down a few pegs.
XKCD, Questionable Content, Sluggy Freelance.

Everything here, with special mention to Monster Lover and Kit n Kay Boodle (for reasons that should hopefully be obvious).

DISCLAIMER: List was mostly assembled by idiots.

I tend to avoid webcomics that are poorly rated by people, but the only comic that really baffles me as to how anyone likes it and one that I think is absolutely terrible is Megatokyo.

I like Lil Formers although I haven't check on it for a while.

There is this Pokemon webcomic that I dislike. While there nothing wrong for using the game sprite (you may know which one I'm talking about) for the comic I just hate for the fact that the dates on it is a year behind ! Serious as I check on it now, the date is Friday February 19 2010!
Unless the creator is somehow uploading his comic via a wormhole to the present (his future) or the creator doesn't want to admit that he is a year behind with his uploading dates and cannot upload it on time like the rest of the many other webcomic creators.

Penny-Arcade... they might have occasional funny moments but the fact that there's NO overarching storyline is pathetic. I want characters that learn and grow, not just random disjointed cheap easy jokes. I'm not interested in two and a half men...

I never thought I'd find myself defending CAD but here we go.

The massive degree of internet hate for CAD is, honestly, ridiculous. It isn't a very good strip, I agree. It does a lot of things wrong. But Buckley has been making the same mistakes and making the same stylistic choices for years and, for some reason, people keep reading. Seriously, if you hate it so much, if it has never made you laugh (hyperbole or there's something wrong with your brain. Even CAD has had the occasional good strip. Monkeys and typewriters and all that) then perhaps you should stop reading it. It's like reading Dinosaur comics every day and complaining the art is too static. It's pointless. Buckley is never going to change no matter how much you *****.

And about the whole miscarriage-Cerberus syndrome thing. That was a poor strip, even by CAD standards. It was poorly timed, badly executed and his art wasn't strong enough to pull it off. It was however, something new for him. He has an established, paying, audience who wanted X. He, instead, gave them Y. That's commendable. It didn't work. But fuck, everyone has ideas that don't work or don't turn out how they planned. I find it hilarious that people will rant and rave about how terrible the miscarriage strip was then, in the same breath, criticise him for not trying anything new.

In short, CAD isn't great, I agree. But there's far worse out there. CAD is at least clearly and professionally presented, lots of strips don't even manage that.

Piro's sketchy architecture work is pretty nice. Distracts me from his malformed, bubbled headed characters (lol, hypocrisy) and for a while he managed to tap into that early 00's l33t sp34k fad and sold a dickload of merchandise. Hell I preferred that aesthetic to the manga-ripoff stuff he's done for... oh the past five years.

Cad for sure I definitely won't defend it... Well that and the Bleedman comics I finally quit recently.

On that list though the only real comic I will defend actually is "No Need For Bushido" Because I like it.

I have found a few in my times though, such as "The Rook" Which had some semi okay art, but the story was confusing and it was endless endless pages of dialogues talking about stud I didn't understand or like.

The Becoming was another, it had it's moments but it was also very confusing.

VG Cats

I respect that there are many tastes when it comes to web comics, some like CAD, some don't. The artist for VG Cats has almost completely given up on updating and instead either blogs on the news post section about topical shit, pushes their site merchandise or talks about conventions they're attending.

That's not a webcomic, that's a crime against humanity.

OT: Hell if I know, I don't read bad webcomics. (at least in my opinion)

OK I can understand XKCD - it's a little pretentious and big for it's boots but does deliver the goods sometimes

Never read or heard of sluggy

And I 2nd you explaining how QC in terrible, seriously it may not be your style it's not a gag a day strip but the art work is nice now its evolved and his writing both serious and comic is hard to fault and it's a real living story that you can't help be drawn into.

honestly did you read like the first 20 strips and quit

...I challenge anyone to get past 500 and not be hooked - seriously

Even then the artworks got a way to go...

I win.
How dare you criticize Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff?!?!?!?!?! It is nothing less than the greatest artistic gift to mankind since the Mona Lisa and has several outstanding merits, such as it's compelling story line, and it's believable and dynamic characters!

In case you didn't notice my sarcasm, yeah, SBAHJ sucks. But, that's kind of the whole point. In any case, yes, you do win. Well done.

OP: CAD isn't that great yeah, but I still read it. It has the occasional good strip. I'm also tempted to criticize VG Cats. It's usually quite good, but the update schedule... still, considering it's free entertainment, can't really complain about that.
