im wondering if any of you have had any close shaves by that i mean have you ever nearly died?

i have i was hit by a van and broke both my knee caps and punctured a lung and died on the operating table but (sadly) was given adrenaline and my heart re-started ... so any way what are your experiences?

I fell off a moving ute, cracking my head open on the road (at quite a speed). Lucky god gave me a head full of rocks, or I might have damaged something important.

After some blurry unconsciousness, I had my head stitched together with fishing line without anaesthetic. I like to think that accident made me the broken man I am today.

when you put it like that it sounds a bit emo but i was prepared to die when the van hit me i knew i'd probably die

The closest I have come to death is when I was on the back of my brothers motorbike. We were driving down a little country lane when a Jaguar XKR came speeding round the corner at about 60+ mph and crashed into a tree right in front of us.

Neither of us were hurt but my heart was in my mouth when that car came round that corner

I was once drunkenly dancing in my driveway when myself and my student flatmates were having a party. One of our other friends screamed into the driveway in his vintage VW and slammed into me, rebounding me off the brick-wall behind me.

I didn't nearly die but I thought I was going to and it scared the living shit out of me.

As it was I just (greenstick) fractured my leg in two places. It probably didn't help that I was completely dressed in black at the time but the guy driving has never forgiven himself.

The next day the doctor told me that in a perverse way it was lucky that I'd been intoxicated and relaxed or I would have snapped my leg completely in both spots! That freaked me out a little.

you should try looking before you cross the road because that's more than bad luck.

I had a car crash last November. I spun across 3 lanes of traffic ... TWICE, managed to miss every car, got control back, nearly hit another car, spun out of the way, across the 3 lanes again, over a curb, over another lane (slip road) over another curb and then into a lamp post which impacted my driver's door.

Luckily , it all happened in such slow motion that I managed to lean over to the passenger seat and avoid the worst of it with only a mild concussion and glass in my eye and arms where I was trying to cover my head.

The car was a convertable, so hitting the lamp post was a good thing otherwise I would have rolled into a ditch and probably not be here now.

When I was a toddler I fell out of a moving car and hit the road, on my head.
When I was a little older I fell off a tree and hit the massive trunk, on my head.
When I was in 4th grade I tried to swing across monkey bars with my bag on, fell ,hit my head and winded myself.

The first and last I went to the hospital for.

Also I had a massive stomach pain/virus that I actually thought would be the one time during my life I would actually die.

Um. My Dad ran over my foot once.

My grandma once closed the car door on my uncle's hand. She took 10 seconds to open it.

I slipped on the edge of a cliff, although it went down for a little bit before I would be in the open air. I ended up having to stop myself sliding in time to give myself enough of a chance to see where the water was deepest about 50 ft down. There was no way back up so I had to jump. With hindsight it was freaking awesome, But if the water wasn't that deep I wouldn't be typing now.
