Batman: Awesome or A Joke

I LOVE BATMAN, but my friend and I recently got into an argument about how awesome he really is. I believe that he is amazing because he beats the crap out of villains, and he doesn't have any super powers. My friend states that he is a crappy hero because he doesn't have super powers, and his main villains are just lunatics with guns (Penguin, Two-Face, Joker, Thorne etc.). My question to you escapist is what do you think of Batman? Do you think he is an awesome crime fighter, or a little girl that who would never be able to take down a villain of Superman or the X-Men?

He's pretty goddamn awesome; if your friend has a problem, direct him to the GODDAMN JUSTICE LEAGUE. Batman is one of the best, alongside Superman and Wonder Woman. So yeah. He's awesome; also, don't put down the Batman villains. The Joker very nearly killed Superman (World's Finest), and Poison Ivy took control of his mind (Hush Story Arc).

I think he is awesome, I think the villains are some of the greatest villains ever. Everything about Batman is fucking AWESOME! I always saw Batman as not someone like Superman who can just obliterate almost anything, he uses his brain, He is a detective/ninja after all and when you come down to it, isn't that just awesome?

part of the awesomeness of batman is that it is all realistic to a degree! the fact that he is just a man makes him so much more awesome than somebody with powers.

to put this into perspective, who do you think is more awesome, a homeless man who gives 50% of his earnings every day to charity, or a billionaire who gives 2% of his fortune to charity?

Just because someone doesn't have powers doesn't mean they aren't super. Batman does things that none of us (the audience) could never do. Its one thing to easily fly to the villains stronghold and beat the crap out them, but Batman uses his intellect to learn and outsmart his villains. The argument with your friend seems to be the old battle between Spectacle vs Substance

Besides, I personally look forward to his villains more than Batman himself.

I never really understood why DC books Batman so strongly. The more I think about Batman, the more he get on my nerves. He has no weakness (well besides being human). At least Ironman is an alky.

Ahhhh Batman, yes he can hard to take seriously sometimes, yes he has no superpowers, yes most of the villains don't have any either, BUT there is one reason why he will always be awesome, HE'S BATMAN
