Am I the only one who loved it?

I thought it was a hilarious, clever and brilliant film that felt like a love letter to the Adam West show and the Batman mythos.

Also I love Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

That movie came out after the massive who-ha that is the Killing Joke animated movie.

I mean shit Killing Joke was so controversial that Honest Trailers and Cinemasins made videos about it because of the whole Batman fucking Batgirl contention.

Yet that movie came out and not one person said anything about it.

Also I hate Batman Brave and the Bold and any campy-fication of any DC hero.

You hate camp? Wow, you're no fun.

Also Killing Joke sucked for more reasons than the stupid Batgirl controversy. (Thanks, Bruce Timm.)

Its mostly because I hold Superheroes to higher standard than anyother. Irrationally sometimes.

After seeing The Dark Knight and Watchmen and reading Kingdom Come and Superman Red Son, it codifyed how I view Superheroes.

Batman v Superman is not the best movie ever, but I prefer it over just campy nonsense.

Heck I am tempted to see Logan than Deadpool 2.

I hold superheroes to high standards too, but it doesn't need to be dark and serious all the time. You can tell good stories that are goofy and taking it seriously. That's why I love season 1 of the Flash.

I love those stories, but they don't always need to be used as a way to have superheroes be constantly deconstructed. That's kinda been a problem with people involving those stories. They seem to think everything should be dark and gritty when that wasn't the point of those books. Same with people thinking Dark Knight should be recreated since it was dark and gritty which is the complete opposite. Dark Knight was great because it had a good script and a great direction.

Batman v Superman is honestly the worst superhero film ever. Seriously I'd rather watch Fant4stic and Batman and Robin over that movie and both of those films suck.

Logan is fantastic. Deadpool 2 can work if they just embrace more of the zaniness of the character instead of downplay it.

Did you even watch Brave and the Bold
I have seen a few episodes and seen some in Youtube.

Told me everything I needed to know, its not for me.

I used to think dark and gritty was the best and camp was stupid, but then at one point, I realized that was stupid and I grew to embrace both.

Also Brave and the Bold is awesome. Its a wonderful celebration of the Silver Age and DC's legacy in general.

You say that about Batman v Superman now than 10 years later another Superhero movie comes to claim that title.

Its that point I realized all Superhero movies will be dated in the years to come. More so than animation.

So what? Even stuff I love is dated. Flash Gordon is dated in some of its effects, but I really enjoy that movie. Kim Possible is dated in its pop culture references, but I still enjoy that series. Superman (1978) is dated in some of its writing, but I still think its one of the best superhero films ever for a reason.

I'm not sure if BvS will be topped. We'll see

I just think the whole hate BvS gets for its badness is grossly exaggerated, and I have seen the movie thrice, the third time being the director's cut and though I don't think its the best movie ever it is far from being the nadir of a movie genre everyone makes it out to be.

I mean if BvS is the nadir of Superheroes and Filmaking than I have no idea what is because I thought that was Dark Knight Strikes Again/Superman At Earth's End and Amazing Bulk/Foodfight respectively.

I've only seen the film twice and I don't think I wanna see it again. I don't think either cut is good. I find it a boring, ugly looking, poorly written and insulting piece of crap. I honestly don't find it grossly exaggerated, but that depends on what you find exaggerated.

As for those examples, Dark Knight Strikes Again and Superman At Earth's End are godawful, but I can forget they happened. The same with Amazing Bulk and Foodfight. Unfortunately I can't forget BvS. Its not up there with some of the worst films I've seen (seriously the Last Airbender is the worst film I've ever seen), but I do find it the worst superhero film ever made and one of the worst things in the superhero mythos. Yes, I would so far as to say its worse than either of those two stories.

Nearly every opinion about popular culture on the internet these days is grossly exaggerated, when everything is only ever described as either absolutly perfect or irredeemably terrible with no middle ground at all.

Petulant ranting does not deserve to be treated as legitimate criticism, I don't care how angry you claim to be, if you refuse to be calm and open-minded and speak plainly you don't deserve to be taken seriously.

Anyway on to the actual topic of your thread, 'Return of the Caped Crusaders'... I enjoyed it a lot, it was fun. I like seeing all different aspects and interpretations of something I love (Batman) being celebrated.

In fact I think the fact that this film was released the same year as BvS and especially The animated Killing Joke to be very encouraging, as though people are finally realising that the character can exist in countless interpretations both light (campy, fun etc) and dark (realistic, gritty what have you) and that one doesn't need to discard one to enjoy the other.
