Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, dead at 66

The voice of Batman for 30 years has died. We all grew up with Batman the Animated Series, so this is pretty fucking painful. Apparently he has cancer. I gotta go play one of the Arkham games now.

Not a fan of the Batman games, and only vaguely remember the animated series, but he was also the company commander in the first season of Tour of Duty, and I remember him from that.

Fyi, this year DC did a Pride anthology of lgbt+ themed stories, one of which was written by Kevin Conroy chronicling his life as a gay man working on Broadway, how he eventually got the role of Batman, and how he channeled his own experiences into that voice.

Recommended. It's a good read.

DC has made this anthology free in honor of Conroy, but it's not available everywhere.

Funny thing is this is how I found out that Conry can sing and about his broadway career.

Really unfortunate, he has always been the best Batman voice actor.
I recently went through all of the DC animated content on HBO max and I can say with confidence that Conroy's Batman always stands out in my mind as the best version, and always perfect alongside Hamill's Joker.
Sad we aren't going to get any new content from that iconic duo.
Even though Batman Arkham Knight was the weakest in that trilogy it was still incredibly fun because it was carried by their awesome chemistry.

I found this video where Conroy talks about death and coping with it. It was one of those Cameo things, a fan commissioned it for a fellow fan who'd just lost a loved one.



As wholesome as this is, Jesus, the number of people using his death to get views is disgusting. This video was uploaded by the fan, but there's tons of other videos out there with "RIP Keven Conruy Omg so sad " bullshit. Fuck all of you.
