Ok so i just got an email from Blizzard saying my account has been locked due to suspicious activity. However i haven't been on WoW since June and i don't really care about it much anymore.

I have tried and failed my security question too much and have to contact customer support. Like i said i don't play WoW anymore and don't want the hassle unless i absolutely need to. Can i just let it go or do i have to go through customer service?

If I were you I would do it, it usually only takes about 10 minutes and it can massively screw you over if you ever decide to go back. I would say its mandatory if you use the same password or email address for anything else as well.

Don't follow any links in the email. Go to the battle.net site and check the situation through your browser normally as this might well be a phishing scam. I get dozens every week and I haven't played for at least 2 years.

If you used the link in the e-mail , they might have gotten your account info now.

These are almost 99% scam e-mails.
I get them for WoW , Runescape and other mmo's i do not have an account for (let alone played).

The email is almost definitely a phishing scam. If you look at the header information of the email you'll probably find that it isn't from Blizzard at all.

If you've already followed the link from the email and put in your login information and answered your security questions, it's quite likely that you just sent all that information to criminals and you'll need to change your login passwords ASAP.

There are now GW2 scams as well, seeing as I just got an email saying "Your Guild Wars email account has been changed. Go here to put in your information to confirm this change" I don't even have a Guild Wars account.

That's weird. I got an email from Blizzard yesterday saying my Battle.net account had been locked due to suspicious activity. I recently installed StarCraft 2 on my new machine, and had a bit of trouble with authentication, so I figured it was to do with that. I followed the link, went through security, set a new password. It seems legit as far as I can see. I just went on to Battle.net and logged in with my new password and changed it again to make sure it's secure. The link in the first email is https://eu.battle.net/account/support/password-reset.html , which appears to be the real locked password reset URL. That's the URL if you go to Battle.net and find the reset page yourself. The first email I got is from a different address than the later ones, but noreplyeu@blizzard.com is a reasonable address.

All I use my Battle.net account for is casual StarCraft 2 play so I'm not too worried.
