Battleborn Winter Update

Haven't seen anyone talk about this, most likely because the game is on the ropes, but I've been loving the new Battleborn update. The menus are much cleaner, there's now a practice mode so you can try out rarely used characters/gear, daily challenges that let you earn platinum (fucking finally) so you can get the high tier taunts/skins with out paying real money, all characters (minus the DLC ones) unlocked from the start, the final character is neat and new DLC operation is hysterical.

If you're getting a little tired of Overwatch, I'd highly suggest picking this up the second it's on sale...(no, I'm not Randy Pitchford).

I think Battleborn is a little too far too gone, to be honest with you. It was fucked by a shitty release window, and now, I just don't think anyone really cares. Gearbox can release as many DLC characters, or update the game as much as they like, but frankly, im not too sure if the game will ever come back, at least short of going Free 2 Play.

I played the game a little at an expo here in the UK, and it seemed pretty neat (at least better than Overwatch, IMO), but I think that these days, people are too scared of picking it up due to the low server populations. I would have loved for it to be different, but for whatever reason, the general public put Battleborn and Overwatch on the same peg (despite being wildly different), and Battleborn flopped because of it.

I hope the folks at Gearbox get the game back on track some day, but unless they do something drastic, they may just be beating a dead horse.

Battleborn is easily the best MP I've played this gen. It's sad that it kinda flopped. Just about every MP I like sorta flops or has a small dedicated userbase like MGO2 or Warfighter. After playing the beta when I knew really nothing about Battleborn, then trying the Overwatch beta, Overwatch is far too simplistic of a game for me to what to dedicate any time to when compared to Battleborn.

Anyways, I need to get back into Battleborn (I played it for months just about everyday when it came out). After watching a few Lftstrafe videos [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDiJqGrh-NPdjVzZ0bb-NCQ] about the winter update, I definitely want to get back into playing the game at least once a week or so. I saw they sorta nerfed Thorn, now I can't have Fell Wind AND Enduring Blight . In the end, it seems like Thorn still plays pretty similar and is just a bit weaker early game. I hope they didn't mess with my girl Mellka that much. I wonder how many character helixes they changed since I last played.

Yeah at this point there's no reason to get back into it, the player base is just not there, maybe if they go F2P I'll try again, but waiting in empty server and playing with people nowhere near your skill level is just not fun.

Its a shame they totally fucked up the release of it. Its quite a good game and I really like the character designs, but they not only made it full price just before overwatch and paladins but they also tried to salvage the game by putting in paid dlc. They needed to really buckle down and add free content if they wanted to save it, something that would make the community come back and be like awesome, lets check this out. You don't get that with a season pass or paid cosmetics. The new characters were nice but unless you had a season pass they cost a ridiculous amount of points to unlock.
